Feb 27th 2011 1:30PM This taxing madness has to stop! All we have to show for our hard work since 1948 is a garage full of paperwork required by the various taxing agencies. Not to be forgotten, millions in receipts for paid taxes. It was a sad day, when we had to close our companies and let go our workers, just because of unreasonable taxes. Our workers were some of the finest and most decent people you'd ever meet. Well educated, talanted, hard working people who took much pride in contributing to our companies and the general welfare of the Union. This war perpretrated on the middle-class by the USG; the States; the Counties and the Cities is what did us in. We were punished because we prospered and were successful. We were incorporated in Philly in the 1800's and closed because of death taxes in 1942. In CA we incorporated in 1921 and closed in 1956 because of death taxes. in Oregon we went into business in 1940 and had to shut down in 2005 because of unreasonablely high taxes. In WA State in 1984 we went into business and had to close down in 2011 because of obscene taxes. Now it's all gone. Generations of hard work, investment and enterprize by our family in business. By our best estimates, 2000 jobs were lost Nationwide. No, we did not offshore to China or elsewhere. In WWII and Korea three of our family members gave their lives in service to this country. Now, In 2011 there are no more jobs available from this former employers' "family businesses." Sorry folks, it was great while it lasted. As the top cop said in "Bladerunner" It's called retirement.' .

Feb 22nd 2011 12:12PM A Univeresity education is not useless. College is not a hiring ground for corporate America, nor is it a trade school or a place for political indoctrination. Higher education, whether it be the Liberal Arts or Science is primirarly meant to build leaders and for self-fulfillment. In other words, American colleges are supposed to graduate a more well rounded INDIVIDUAL, who can and will contribute to the society at large.
