Nov 30th 2008 5:18PM I gave "Do They Know it's Christmas" 45's as gifts back in 1984...I must be a masochist..I always thought the sentiment behind the song was as forceful, at least, as a "stupid" comment posted on a list of songs presented by some random tribe of listmakers.
This song begat the joke, Q: "What's the world's fastest land animal?" A: "The Ethiopian Chicken."
But I seriously think this tune did a bunch of good at the time..and I dig it! OK? Happy Christmas.

I appreciate your reiteration of your main points. Somehow correlating "brain splattered walls" with the attempt by NBC to help shed some light on the freakish breakdown of an angry lost person is hyperbole at it's weakest.
I hate that I know the name of John Lennon's murderer. I hate when Charles Manson is referred to as the "mastermind" behing the Tate-LaBianca murders.
It really is too bad we don't refer to them in the most derogatory words we can muster. I guess that's just the diplomacy of civilized people.
I do think the "over and over" replay syndrome is attributable to the fact that most people aren't "glued to their TV sets".
Imagine the day at NBC News after the package showed up.
Again...my heart goes out to the families of the victims. We have twin daughters in college, away from home. It is absolutely unimaginable for me.
