Why Aren't We Boycotting the Olympics? {News Bloggers}

Jul 7th 2008 2:19PM The Olympic games are not apolitical. The USA is in debt to the Chinese government for almost a trillion dollars. Yes, a trillion. They are currently funding 25% of the war in Iraq, since the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are the first wars being fought in which the US government did not raise taxes. When George Bush said he didn't want to insult China, he meant you don't turn on the people holding the bank notes. There's very little we can do about China regardless of whether they continue with human rights abuses or poison our toys and food as long as this country is indebted to them.

Million-Dollar Homes Up For Auction in Arizona {Luxist}

Apr 22nd 2008 6:19PM Dear Harold, I don't want to speak in platitudes but sometimes the most comforting words are "this, too, shall passs." Please don't give up hope, keep putting one foot in front of the other. Others have been where you are and have come out the other side. I'm a stranger, but I care. Good luck to you and know that you and your family are in my thoughts. Sincerely, Jayne

Cho Seung-Hui's Plays {News Bloggers}

Apr 17th 2007 2:53PM I did not have the knowledge that would come with a face-to-face encounter with this writer, and I have not yet read the second play. However, the writing is immature in both style and content. My university degree was English with a creative writing specialization. Very often students of this age use their writing for experimentation and as a catharsis for frustration, so this did not seem particularly shocking to me. But again, without meeting its author, it is only part of the picture. My point is that not everyone who writes this sort of thing is dangerous.
