Apr 1st 2008 6:26AM Clarkson used to host Top Gear when they did 'proper' car reviews, and would look under the bonnet every time.
The reason they do so few US cars is simple, they don't like them, as a rule. Too heavy on the steering, slow acceleration, lumpy suspension, plus we don't have too many US versions of cars on UK roads. Plenty of Ferraris etc compared to Honda Accords..
Besides, it wouldn't be the first US re-imagining of a successful UK tv show dumbed down and/or stripped of any of its original hook.
