The Lodge at Southwind {Luxist}

Mar 1st 2006 2:05AM Are they kidding on these prices? I haven't seen new $200K condos in a premium resort market in years and the high-end price of $800k sounds a bit low too. I could see $200K for mandated affordable housing but that is about it.

Monroe Pointe, New Luxury Condos Planned For Denver {Luxist}

Mar 1st 2006 1:55AM It is interesting to see pricing per square foot about what 4-6 year old condos close to the ski mountain here in Steamboat Springs. Our newer porjects are expected to go for $550-700 a square foot and I would have expected prices in Cherry Creek to be closer to those kind of numbers for such a premium building.

Thanks for the article and keep up the great blog!

Skidoo Bay, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Mar 1st 2006 1:47AM Thanks for this post, a friend has gone to flat head lake for a long time but I have never seen decent pictures. I may need to tag along next summer.

Dinner is (finally) served: TMIO's Connect Io Intelligent Oven is shipping {Engadget}

Feb 19th 2006 6:13PM I don't understand why this has taken so long. Just integrate a small compressor into the bottom of the stove and add some control electronics and yor are there. The oven is already insulated. I think that would be really cool if you could use it to defrost meat just in time for your arrival home. We like to eat a lot of wild game here in steamboat springs but it's hard to have it as often as we want because it takes too long to defrost once you get home and you don't want to defrost it too fast.

Safretti fireplaces hang on a wall {Engadget}

Feb 19th 2006 5:57PM Now that is a cool fireplace. I have seen a couple of fireplaces designed to look like a picture frame in Steamboat Springs. They were nice, but built in and burning conventional natrual gas. This one is sleek and would take a little more modern vs. rustic house to feel at home in but I like it. It would be a perfect way to add a fireplace to a room or a condo that that doesn't already have one. steamboat-springs.blogspot.com/

Vail Village Home, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Feb 19th 2006 5:03PM I'm still amazed at prices in Vail. It is definately a more upscale market but I think the biggest differences are that there just is not that much land in the Vail valley compared to steamboat springs and the high end market in Vail is a bit more interested letting other people know what they have.

Sunday Real Estate Round-Up {Luxist}

Feb 19th 2006 4:37PM Thanks for the interesting post. It look like Liza was given the property subject to a life estate. Life estates are not too common (except when people have a lawyer on retainer) but you see the from time to time for older relatives and even in the name of trusts that are setup to provide for a pet like a dog, cat or horse.

I've heard of one here in Steamboat Springs for a herd of cattle after a rancher died. In real estate we see quite a few interesting twists expecially out west. Land is one of the few things you can permanently alter the use of forever even if you only own it for 5 minutes and don't make a single phyical change. Life estate fall somewhere in between. steamboat mls

Moby's House For Sale {Luxist}

Feb 19th 2006 4:05PM I have to say I'm surprised he would leave the city mls. I'm impressed by his choice of location, the way he used the views and I really like the table. Out here is Steamboat Springs you can get a lot more house and view for the money. We are not a hour from New York and in my book that is a good thing since it keeps down the crowds.
