Rod Kush Mansion Destroyed as Firefighters Set Ex-NFL Star's Former Home Ablaze for Training {AOL Real Estate}

Dec 7th 2012 11:01AM True. As a former contractor I know about the value of a house. But an abandoned home that was sitting on ground that had become surrounded by commercial property was recently burned (for training purposes) and I support that. Just that in this particular house, it probably could have been salvaged. But as another said, the ground may have been worth the $600,000 he paid to develop in another way. I just don't like using the "mold" or "lead-paint" excuse as a reason! As for the standing water that's probably because of a roof leak (which won't necessarily rot anything - takes a LONG time for that to happen) or the fact no power so sump pumps in basement don't work. Again, not a problem.

Former NFL Star Rod Kush's Huge Mansion to Be Burned Down in Firefighter Training {AOL Real Estate}

Oct 12th 2012 1:28PM I concur with you. Such a waste. As a former contractor myself, I've seen this way too many times. We recently voted (not me) to tear down a school and build a new school on the same spot (for 12 million dollars) because the roof had leaked and it had some mold on the ceilng tiles. Gee, let's put a new roof and insul deck on it, replace the ceiling tiles, maybe even remode the bathrooms and put in new carpets, etc, and that will cost $500,000.00 (at most). Ridiculous waste of tax payer money. Such is the same here. However, as it seems the new owner bought the house for it's land with the intent to tear it down, I do applaud him (saving money) letting the fire department use it for learning time.

Oct 12th 2012 1:24PM So sad. As a former contractor I hate to see anything destroyed when it's salvageable. And mold is not nearly as big of a problem as people make it out to be. Mold has been around for billions of years and will continue to be with us. That house could be made whole with an investment of about $250.000.00. Reminds me of a job I estimated here. The customer had a small fire (curtain fire and very minor smoke damage) to his house. As I was talking to the housekeeper she said they weren't going to repair the fire damage as they were going to tear down this million dollar house so they could build another one in the same spot. The "guest" house was bigger than my house. Such a ridiculous waste of wealth.

Tennessee Home Burns as Firefighters Watch {AOL Real Estate}

Dec 7th 2011 11:48AM You're an idiot. If the homeowner knows there is a fee and does not pay it, for any reason, the home burns. I don't blame the fire department. IF they had fought this fire (mobile homes usually burn to the ground anyway so it really doesnt' make much difference)then no one would ever pay the annual fee. Like another poster said, if they didn't pay their insurance the insurance company won't cover the damage. In this case, if I'm the insurance company, I would look for a loop hole to deny the claim. $75.00 for a year. These people probably started the fire by smoking and I'm sure if they're smokers they spend more than $75.00 a year on cigarettes!

Woman Arrested at Boston Airport For Smuggling Cocaine in a Diaper {AOL Travel News}

Mar 29th 2011 10:56AM To the other idiots replying to Cindy.....Pot is a gateway drug. Some don't move on. My son moved on. He did every drug he said except for needles. Coke, LSD, whatever. He got clean. My 2 nieces moved from pot to H. One's dead now, the other is still killing herself with heroin. Believe what you want. For some pot is probably like a beer or liquor. But for a lot of pot smokers, they get over it and need something "stronger". Now those are the facts. I don't care who does what drug, unless it's my family members. Luckily, out of 3 boys, I only had one try it. Of course my grandson got messed up with pot (or other drugs - not really sure) and is in prison for murder now. But, go ahead, smoke your pot. You'll be just fine.

Warrant Issued for Michael Madsen's Arrest {PopEater}

Mar 14th 2011 9:27AM What do they do with their money? Geeze, I could live the rest of my life on what they make for 1 movie. Of course, I don't drink, snort coke, do drugs or have groupies and hanger's on. I can balance my own check book, etc.

Kate Winslet Poses Nude in 'Flawless' New LancĂ´me Ad Campaign: VIDEO {Stylelist (Main)}

Mar 10th 2011 11:01AM I know I'm old. And my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. And I do have a vivid imagination. But I didn't see any nudity or anything that could be closely related to nudity. But a great teaser. While I knew I would not see any actual "private parts" it still did get me to watch the ad.

Charlie Sheen's Lawyer Blasts CBS, Warner Bros. in Letter, Threatens to Sue {PopEater}

Mar 1st 2011 9:36AM I read that they had 4 shows "in the can" ready to air (of 8 remaining on the schedule) and 4 to film. They cancelled the final 4 shows. I'm sure they'll show the 4 already produced. Whether Sheen is paid for the 4 un-produced films will have to be determined.

Let's take Sheen out of this picture. There are a lot of shows that get cancelled - do the actors get paid for those shows if they're not filmed or aired? I don't think so. Otherwise what would be the reason to "cancel" them if they have to pay for them anyway? I think this could be a loser for good old Charlie.

The show would be nothing without him. Since the show is a replication of his "life". Sad isn't it. But funny. Or used to be. The funniest person on the show at the beginning was the kid. Now he's too old for the part.

Why Did TSA Pat Down Kids, Adults Getting Off Train? {AOL Travel News}

Mar 1st 2011 7:41AM Actually I think you mean the "Clinton" banking. Since it WAS Clinton's administration that relaxed the lending rules in the early 1990's so that EVERYONE could enjoy that American dream of home ownership. Bush has his faults, but the banking problem wasn't one of them. I mean, think about it. When Clinton's buddy, Enron came begging for another govt. handout (like Clinton had given them) Bush said no and Enron failed. I'm only sorry Bush didn't have the guts to say no to Fanny May, Freddie Mac, Citi, AIG, etc. We need to get government OUT of private business. Then perhaps we could get a legitimate TSA that's not govt. involved.
