Aug 5th 2007 8:48PM I love how people think they are so high and mighty about how they "would" spend their money. Get some then go talking. I have a few high end items in my closet but I am by no means wealthy. I enjoy these items and have no guilt about owning them. I do have a problem with people who know better.

Mar 16th 2007 12:16PM Finally! Someone is pointing out Beyonce BAD choices! I think her mom is doing the styling. It just looks awful. Now that Beyonce is the poster girl for real women's bodies along with America, she should dress with a just a little taste. I mean everything is skin tight, slashed to the belly button and gold or silver. Just a hint of good taste would be a step up. Thank you for point this out!

Mar 3rd 2007 2:29PM I have a problem with self worth? God Bless size 12 women and all sizes for that matter speaking of self worth. Yea 140 at 5'4 is the upper limits. And yes muscle plays a role in weight. But not everyone works out. And the BMI gives a large range. Size of clothes does not equal self worth. In this country that would mean bigger is better. I can bet money on all the people defending over weight are heavy. And as far as doctors saying to lose weight for back problems you think that he has a prejudice? Come on now, extra weight is stress on your entire body. Having to lose 75 pounds is what normal people struggle with? It's not normal to be 75 pounds overweight. And pear, apple, hourglass, what ever I am not saying "Hollywood" standards I am saying the American Medical Association Standards. Being over weight is a disease, and can cause may other diseases. As far as women from other cultures are concerned, we are the fattest nation in the world. So being "matronly" or curvy is beautiful in it's own right, being fat is not. Having to lose 75 pounds is fat, no two ways about it. What did Kristy Alley call her show on HBO "Fat Actress," not curvy actress not a size 12 actress FAT ACTRESS. I just don't understand how sensitive people are about this. I feel that I am defending healthy weight whereas everyone with BMI over 25 which is overweight by the AMA, is staying it's normal and healthy

Mar 3rd 2007 12:13PM BTW: 5'4 and 155? That's BMI of 26.5. the range is 108 to 132. I didn't make up those standards. Being overweight in not an induvial thing. There is a large range. I cannot believe how defensive people get, and I am the one with problem? I just pointed out that there is a growing number of Amereica's out there with weight problems and it shouldn't be accepted as normal.

Mar 3rd 2007 11:51AM Did not mean to offend you Haley. However, when you see America on other shows, talk, awards, etc., she looks great, the outfits on Ugly Better are meant to make her look chubby. To the grandma, I am 48, so I am no spring chicken. Yes, it's more difficult to maintain a healthy weight as we age. But the way people in this country look is a sad state of affairs. Every thing is SUPERSIZED, especially women. People defending being overweigh is how this country got to the way it is. I do agree the range of beauty standards need to expand not our waist lines. We need to see more people of color and different cultures that are beautiful, not larger people. Where on earth but in USA, do you see so many large people? And saying being larger is healthy is just not true. Over time it takes its toll on your back and bones. I cannot believe people who carry around 10 to 20 pounds over their ideal weigh have a good body image. Having a good body image is part of being healthy.

Mar 3rd 2007 11:18AM I agree health is a life style, not a dress size. Size 12 is not healthy at 5'4! Just because more people are that doesn't make it healthy. You don't get it. I would hate to see you in a swim suit. Maybe if you were 5'7 a 12 would be healthily. And a 12 today is larger than it was 10 years ago so your really 14. Maybe your test come back today healthily but in a few years of caring extra weight will have a toll on you. Maybe on your knees or back. Just because someone's cholesterol is in the normal range and they are caring as little as 10 pounds for many years it will be felt. Working in a doctors office I saw many people with back problems. The first thing the doctor told them was to lose weight. 40% of the population is overweight and those numbers are growing. Childhood obesity is at an all time high. The new thing is the BMI most peoples are over 25, that's just piggy. Defending being large is what the problem is. Betty's sister is normal looking. I agree "some" fashion models and actress look too thin also. But it sounds to me like your angry cause your large.

Mar 3rd 2007 10:28AM My problem is that people like you think that being over weight should be the norm. Size 12 is healthily if your over 5'7 not 5'4 sorry. Sure thin people have health problems, but not like over weight people. when 40% of the population is over weight or obese there is a problem. I am 5'4 and a size 2 that is normal, not a size 12! Come on that is just an excuse for not eating correctly and working out. I don't think most of the population is proud of how they look and that's sad. How healthy is it not to like the way you look? Talk about depression! The diet industry is way over a billion dollars a year that should tell you something. When we are praising an actress for losing 75 pounds it is a sad state of affairs. How do people get to need to lose 75 pounds? You don't notice 10 pounds? Damn that's where your way off base. I don't think everyone needs to be a 0, but accepting the fact that your over weight is not good. I am sorry I don't see praising being large as a good thing. Body image is part of health, and when your large you cannot feel good about your self. It is just as unhealthy as smoking and other bad habits. If Betty took more pride in her appearance than I am all for it. There is nothing wrong with that, if that includes slimming down to a smaller size that is great. The extreme vanity that they show for the Mode employee is also unhealthy. But keep in mind more people die from being over weight in this country than anoxia.
