Dec 4th 2010 11:22AM Boxerfanatic- Nothing new here. There's been safety regulations for 40+ years now. Overall though, the marketplace has been a very poor initiator of change in the car industry, especially in the US. There's something unique in the mix which seems to make consumer culture drive innovation in the car industry into strange places. Safety glass, airbags, seatbelts all had to be mandated because the insdustry wasn't finding it on it's own.

Jun 18th 2010 1:35PM I'm red-green colorblind and cannot tell the difference between the red and yellow light. Usually not a problem, but with flashing single lights, or when they put them sideways, (along with arrows) it can get confusing. Red/green LEDs are also an issue- cant tell them easily apart.
It may not be the best implementation, but remember, that having to figure it out by position only (count, red, yellow, green, lh arrow, rh arrow, etc) going 30 miles an hour means you could possibly be through the intersection after your brain processes it.
