I purchased her first cd 'who is jill scott' in 2001, and was 'blown away' by it's sense of correctness, and connectedness to a time and place where the relationship between black men and women transcended whatever else was happening in the world. at 57, now, this cd is still able to take me back to my earliest ideals of what 'black love' should be. there's a message in our music, and jill scott's music has a message i'm happy to hear is still around ("Exclusively").

Apr 6th 2011 1:19AM my two sons have a sister and a brother, who each have different fathers. so, all 4 have the same mother, and my sons have me. there are and have been many issues to deal with, between the parents (their mother and me). however, my sons have a good life, are well rounded, stay out of trouble, and do well in school. i would want a more traditional family situation for my children, and will promote traditional family values and structure to them. yes, i'd like them to have their own version of the 'huxtables'. but, i won't buy into any notion that because african-americans have the highest incidence of multiple father families, the children of those families are predestined to be disadvantaged. putting a positive spin on the situation is not doing a disservice. it's opening the possibilities of an alternative outcome. a better one.
