You ... On a Diet {AOL Hot Searches}

Nov 16th 2007 11:54AM The only "diet" that I have found nutritionally sound, satisfying, and--most importantly--effective, is PhD Barbara Rolls' Volumetrics Eating Plan. It's also logical. For example, one of her suggestions is to have a small cup of broth soup (that's BROTH soup, not cream soup) prior to consuming a main course. Drinking straight liquids prior to a meal won't do the trick; the key is the liquid content of the foods themselves. Not surprisingly, fruits and veggies constitute a large portion (pun intended, I think) of this eating plan for life.

StyleFoul: Twenty worst hairstyles on the Web {Stylelist}

Mar 28th 2007 10:13AM Bleh. I've seen scarier.

Are you a WAG? {Stylelist}

Mar 6th 2007 3:37PM Ha! This is so funny. WAGs are the type of girls I do verbal
imitations of at parties. . . . and they always sound empty-headed
and shallow (sorry, WAGs, I know I'm probably being unfair here. .
.)I think the checklist should be taken as a whole. Having three of
the above characteristics isn't enough to denote one a "WAG." But
when you put all of the traits together, oh-my-god, you have the
receptionist who works across the hall in the law office. . . you can
always tell when she's just left the ladies room by the cloud of Dolce
& Gabbana perfume she leaves in her wake. . .

Would you dress like a Disney princess for your wedding? {Stylelist}

Mar 1st 2007 1:27PM I find the whole idea very Disney: overly-commercial, conformist, and--quite frankly--kinda weird. But on the flip side, I've also spent more than half my life in theatre and can understand the desire to play the princess (or even the "evil" queen), wear a pretty dress, make a smashing entrance, and be the star of the show. So go for it, girly girls.

Risk-Free Ways To Join The Mile-High Club {Luxist}

Feb 9th 2007 4:53PM If you're gonna join the mile-high club, my advice is to do it in the lav of a 747. From my experience, Qantas 747 lavs are especially roomy, and if you commence the act within a few hours of the beginning of the flight, the lavs are likely going to still be relatively clean and trash-free.

Cure chapped lips once and for all {That's Fit}

Jan 31st 2007 9:11AM THE best product out there to prevent chapped lips in the first place, hands down, is CocoCare lip balm. After discovering this stuff in a drugstore in 2002, I now go to their website and order about a dozen tubes at a time and keep them everywhere--one in my desk at work, one on my bedside table, one in my purse. The stuff is amazing; you put it on and forget you're even wearing it. AND it has no taste at all. I'm not being paid by the company--I just really love their product.

Men in scarves are sexy {Stylelist}

Jan 30th 2007 3:46PM Lots of disrespectful homophobic comments today. . . Wow. I think American men are, in general, apprehensive of wearing anything deemed "fashionable" lest, horror of horrors, they be thought of as "gay" or--Isaiah Washington, are you listening?--"faggot." As someone who has traveled, I find that European men are much more stylish than American men. Incidentally, both my husband and I use scarves as necessary winter accessories. When the coat comes off, so does the scarf. And we both look smashing in turtlenecks, especially him!

What's worse than leggings? Men in leggings {Stylelist}

Jan 24th 2007 3:34PM Yes, they are very European. Save for maybe the certain EXTREME NYC male androgyne hipster, I cannot see American men taking to man-leggings. I'm a girl, and the only time I ever wear leggings is to the gym or to a yoga class. Never liked the tunic/leggings look of seasons past. In my world, they are strictly for exercise and sweating!
