Hyatt will assure new jobs for all displaced Boston housekeepers {Gadling}
Sep 26th 2009 7:53PM Amazing, Scott! You have the gift of reading Deval Patrick's mind and knowing his motivations ["the Massachusetts Governor decided it would be politically rewarding (for himself)"]. I think he's an empty suit, but it would be nice if you'd give him the courtesy of assuming good will. After all, if Hyatt's statements deserve to be taken at face value, why not everyone's?
Fake Canadians go home {Gadling}
Aug 30th 2009 5:51PM Don't blame me: I was an involuntary fake Canadian. When I visited Communist Poland in the '80s, the hotel concierge in Warsaw sent a Telex to make our next reservation and described us as being "from Canada". I suppose it was his way of trying to get us nice consideration.
Has Sarah Palin jumped the shark -- again? {BloggingStocks}
Apr 18th 2009 6:20PM Why is junk like this showing up on my screen? I wanted to read about stocks, not your smarmy opinions. Click. Bye.

New nondenominational 'hope room' opens at Providence's TF Green airport {Gadling}
Oct 16th 2008 4:30PM Some images of the art in the room are on-line at:

It all sounds well-intended, but devoting the space to the concept of hope seems a bit too specific for my liking. Other themes might be suitable too. Many air passengers could probably use an increase in the virtue of _courage_, for example.
Yahoo wants YOU to start wearing purple {BloggingStocks}
Sep 16th 2008 8:39PM What about that music? Is Russkiy-Elektro-Polka replacing Yahoo's familiar and all-American bluegrass jingle? :-)
Acugems, Gemstone Facial Treatment {Luxist}
Aug 10th 2008 2:31AM Funny that you should spot that little puff piece in a weekly suburban newspaper. I just sent Amy Saltzman an e-mail yesterday about how uncritically her piece treated the spa owner's claims about "therapeutic light frequencies" from gemstones.
Let's face it: that sounds like a bunch of bunkum. Similar "microcurrent stimulation facelift" treatments without the gems cost about half as much as these pricey treatments.
Iraq opens Najaf airport, hopes to spur tourism {Gadling}
Jul 21st 2008 6:14PM Don't you mean "spur" tourism?

Jul 3rd 2008 2:23PM Sure, we'd get a serving free. But isn't mailing out a single serving of cereal a bit of a waste ecologically?
SkyMall: shopping for about anything is a fingertip away {Gadling}
Jun 12th 2008 7:39PM Is any piece about SkyMall complete without a link to Jonathan Coulton's song about it?
