Do Movie Critics Still Matter? {Moviefone Blog}
Dec 2nd 2009 7:19AM "Whip It!" is another prime example. 90% of the critics nationwide gave it a 3 out of 4 star rating. Approximately the same percentage of people leaving the theater concurred. Practically everyone who saw it, loved it. The problem was, not that many people saw it; why? Poor, or non-existent marketing by Fox Searchlight who completely dropped the ball on this one. It was a damn shame too, because it was a brilliant directorial debut by Drew Barrymore, with superb performances by the illustrious ensemble cast. I predict it will become a cult classic when it is released on dvd; Watch!
