Fat vs. Obese: Which Is Worse? {That's Fit}
Aug 11th 2010 3:52PM I think it's true that Americans have gotten softer. Technology and the instant-gratification syndrome is to blame. People sit constantly. Even a decade or two ago, people used to routinely walk around in their jobs or outside to the post office. Everyone just sits. When they get home, TV & fast food have replaced conversation and healthier meals. Ok, you can't reasonably ask working women to come home & put on an apron, unless both spouses are kicking in the same amount of work. But still, isn't it worth it? And what's wrong with shutting down the flat screen, the laptop, the gameboy etc., and going the hell OUT somewhere as a rule, instead of as an exception? I exercise a lot and I'm fit, so I have to say I don't get what's so appealing about sitting around growing large ... life's over fast enough, isn't it? Why not act?
What Are the Summer Outfits You Hate Seeing Guys Wear? {Lemondrop}
Jul 2nd 2010 3:26PM Yeah, what are "jhorts?"
I think men should wear body-flattering clothes. What that basically means is that they should show a definitive outline (not baggy), but not an x-rated one (not too tight), and that his shoulders should look significantly bigger than his hips in outfit. I've seen guys look good in all the more outre stuff -- cargos etc. -- but they needed an above-average body to look good.
And my fellow ladies, why in hell are sandals considered "gay?" Some men look hot in the right pair. Cuts down on sweat, too.
Boy, 14, Allegedly Tattooed Against His Will By Bullies {ParentDish}
May 25th 2010 4:54PM Yeah, it's a sex crime. But it's more a crime of stalking (adult bullying) and battery. I feel sorry for that kid. I don't think ADD makes him a victim; I've known too many successes who were ADD.
I think readers might as well forget about Valhalla ... he's unable to see shades of gray. Perhaps he never knew that you don't have to be a fallen soldier or a rape victim to be in need of legal protection. People who only see issues in black & white aren't nec bad people. But they usually can't change their perception.
Chris Matthews MSNBC: 'I Forgot Obama Was Black for an Hour' {BV Black Spin}
Jan 28th 2010 9:40PM I am SO sick of this whole issue. I am tired of whites tiptoeing around trying desperately not to offend, I am tired of other whites and blacks taking umbrage at what are essentially meaningless remarks, that I really can't stand it any more. Give it UP!
Tyra Banks Puts 'Top Models' in Blackface. When Did This Become OK? {Inside TV Blog}
Oct 29th 2009 11:53AM Blackface began as a racial slur over a hundred years ago.
Look around! Everything has changed. Black people have more power than they ever have in this country; white & black people stretch the envelope all the time on different issues.
This is nothing but entertainment. I get tired of the politically correct, who have nothing better to do with their day than to try to find some issue to take umbrage over.
'Ho White' Australian Beer Ad Angers Disney {Slashfood}
Oct 15th 2009 9:17PM Actually, while anyone can rewrite the Briar Rose (Snow White) story, the Disney characters are copyrighted. The lookalikes represent an apparent plagiarism that can be acted on by Disney. Also, in showing SW in a sexually adult light, Disney can argue that its reputation, and the reputation of the characters and therefore DVD sales/rentals and future development of sequel movies & DVDs were damaged, constituting commercial harm. That's Disney's case, and it's a good one.
