Fact-checker's Day Off: Typo in Regis & Kelly's quiz question costs contestant her prize {WalletPop}

Jun 5th 2009 1:29AM "Just a typo" so it should have no consequences? Tell that to the service bureau owner who has to carry errors and omissions insurance in case someone put the decimal in the wrong place on the architectural report. Tell it to the team whose Mars lander broke because there was confusion about whether measurements were metric or inches. Radio stations have lost lawsuits regarding DJs who tried to slip a fast one by the listeners who entered a contest: Win a key to a new [expensive car]! Yeah, they argued that the prize was a key; the court saw it otherwise and the station had to buy the [expensive car] that was worth a lot more than the vacation. Call the person back and apologize on air, say five mea cupas, eat crow and award the vacation.

Jeri Thompson, No Mere Trophy {Politics Daily}

Oct 11th 2007 11:01AM I thought a tropy wife was the sweet young thing a guy got after divorcing the woman who worked to put him through law school or med school. Not that I like him all that much, but he and his first wife had been divorced for years, not like Regan or Gingrich (twice for him; so far), so technically she's not a tropy wife. Besides, Arthur Miller's last love was about 53 years younger than he at the time of his death.

Whole Foods Gets Into The Spa Business {Luxist}

Dec 19th 2006 8:39AM I'm curious what evidence j. gregory has to back up the sentence, "im sure you shop at walmart and kmart."

There was a recent online article about stocks to get rid of. Whole Foods is one of them. They, too, face competition not only from Wal*Mart and other big box stores but also from Safeway and other chains that are stocking house brand Organic foods.
