Women Finally Outearn Men -- But Here's What Still Needs to Happen {Lemondrop}
Sep 8th 2010 12:22PM "According to a recent study" When you see this BS all that follows is BS!! What study? Who did the study? Let me see the data?
Women always use this tactic to prevent anyone from checking the "study".
The pay gap is really NO gap. The reason there is a gap is men work more hours otherwise it would be equal!
Fat vs. Obese - What's in a Name? {That's Fit}
Aug 3rd 2010 8:24AM How anyone would think calling someone Fat is worse than Obese is beyond me?? Usually what a doctor says or what family members and friends might say to "motivate" someone into losing weight usually doesn't work. What does help is full length mirrors. The more of them the better! People that are fat or obese hate mirrors, and the reality that they cannot hide from.

Jul 22nd 2010 8:15AM I love CatDeeleys smile,and everything else about her looks but her accent make me cringe. I can't understand her half the time. I don' know what part of the UK she came from but I wish she would learn to speak more clearly...
Cats Versus Dogs -- Savings Experiment {WalletPop}
Jul 15th 2010 6:06PM Not a bad article just not as accurate as it could have been.
Over all cats are cheaper to "own" than dogs. But if you have a cat with health issues or a long hair breed that requires professional grooming those expenses quickly make them more expensive. If you have a large dog breed that has special food requirements or a long coated variety that requires professional grooming that also becomes very expensive.
But the biggest single cost is the spay/ neuter and unfortunately all too many owners do not get this done.
Please spay or neuter your pets!
Divorcing Dog Owners Ordered to Share Custody {Pawnation OLD}
Jul 9th 2010 2:18PM This article just proves the stupidity of our courts,owners and our society. As much as people hate to admit it every time a dog or child is moved from one person to the other there is separation anxiety. It doesn't matter if it is for 2 days or 2 weeks or certainly 6 months! This ruling is so ridiculous that one of these owners should let the dog decide who he wants to be with. Have a handler hold the dog 20 feet away and the owners 8 feet apart from each other. Let the dog pick who he wants to be with! This constant separtion back and forth doesn't work with children, and it sure doesn't work with pets! So to all you pet owners out there that are married, over half of you probably will have to go through a similar pet wrenching decision split up. Will you put your pets, and or children for that matter, through the same nonsense?
Why Nice Girls Still Don't Get the Corner Office {AOL Jobs}
Jul 5th 2010 3:37PM This book might have been relevant 30 years ago but I don't see too many women having problems with being assertive these days. What I do see is all too many women being overly aggressive (thinking that acting like male a*sholes will make them a nicer a*shole) and wonder why no one wants to work with them or for them.
Maybe this is new material for Ms Mandell or mayeb she just wants to through a piece out there and call it news worthy/informative???
Save your money ladies and learn your office/business/people skills and be assertive NOT obnoxious like Ms Frankel and you will get ahead.
FanHouse TV: AL Series to Watch {Fanhouse MLB Blog}
Jul 4th 2010 10:40PM Gardie always has been slow to lift a pitcher that has lost it. Maybe Rick Anderson is part of that way of doing things? But if you know your pitchers and you can see they are struggling to get it down or in the zone, or with their best stuff, why leave them in there? They seem to wish for devine intervention and hope their pitcher will get better? It's like a tire going flat and hoping it will inflate itself???
Gardie is a "player's"manager, and we all know what that means. Player's all too often give mediocre efforts. How many times do we have to see standing 3rd strike outs or swings at pitches in the dirt??? How can any decent manager put up with such nonsense? Cuddyer at 3rd??? That didn't work 5 years ago and it sure isn't now. Gardie is a nice guy, but do you want a nice guy to manage a professional ball club with hopes of going all the way???
I sure don't. Some of these players use and abuse Gardie every day and it gets harder to watch some days. Gardie, stop being a pal and be a manager!
Lemonade Stand Tips: Top 7 Tips for Success {ParentDish}
Jul 3rd 2010 8:49PM I was going to direct this to one poster but I see that a few others would fit also....
You sound like another soccer mom -mini van -mom buddy. Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it. Since when is sitting in the sun "work"?
Isn't that called sun bathing? So a few kids volunteered a few hours for some fund raising. How about an entire summer of doing this? What else do they do all summer? We are the only industrialized country that closes schools in the summer months and thinks our poor darlings need time off? Summers "off" was based on an Agricultural economy from over 100 years ago! Children were needed and required to help with farm chores during the summer months. As soon as you were old enough to carry something you worked on the farm, and it was from dawn until dusk until the work was done! Now 97% of our children are not living on farms and the ones that do have machines for most everything. Other industrialized countries are running 11-12 months a year and require all students to attend until age 18! I guess our kids are smarter??? No, our kids are coddled for the most part. They are too delicate for any of real work?
Here is part of my childhood. When I was about 8 -9 my sister and I started making and selling pot holders door to door. When I was 10 my dad added lawn mowing and snow shoveling to my list of chores. So I added on to that and started going around my neighborhood doing all my neighbors lawns and shoveling. My lawn mower was an old fashioned reel push mower, that I also learned how to sharpen and keep running well. My snow removal equipment was a shovel! In Minnesota we get a little snow here!
When I turned about 13 my dad made me the apartment building caretaker and every saturday I vacumed all the stairways and wet moped the Laundry room and storage area. When tenants would move out we painted apartments and repaired appliances or fixtures. I also played sports and rode my bike all over St Paul among other kid things. What did you do from age 9-18 on your time away from school?
I have lived in a middle class suburban neighborhood for over 17 years and not once have I ever seen a kid offer to cut grass or shovel snow for me or any of my neighbors! The neighbors that have kids wouldn't dare have them do chores. No, all I see is the parents busting their humps while their lazy offspring continue to guilt them into new cars or clothes or more spending money.
This is the norm in this country not the exception!
I haven't seen a Girl Scout selling cookies in over 10 years. I called the district office and I was told I could come in and purchase them.
Yes, this shows our young girls a lot doesn't it. Like some of these photo op Lemonade stands. The parents make the stand,buy and crush the lemons and limes and the kid sits there and gives or sells it for a few hours on weekends while reading Harry Potter! They brag to the papers how much money their son has made (of course not telling us how much time and money they have spent on his "enterprise") all the while giving us tips on how to set up our own stand in upper middle class suburbia, guilting neighbors into forking over $3-5.00 for a glass of Lemonade, and waiting for the money to roll in. Wow I am sooo not impressed! What we are teaching them is that if they guilt us and stay in the nest we will keep feeding them and do all the work. We are the only creature on this earth that just can't seem to prepare our off spring to leave the nest....
Lemonade Stand Tips: Top 7 Tips for Success {ParentDish}
Jul 3rd 2010 10:51AM Why is it these stories always distort what is really going on.
1. This had little to do with selling lemonade, it was about raising money for charity. We see lofty sums raised in this story and others like it simply by giving the beverage away for free! Is this how it's done in the real world of commerce?? Marketing genius, or just wealthy neighbors that wanted to chip in for a charity? Look everyone my child is another Donald Trump! Photo op for parents,child and story for AOL, Reader's Digest and Parent's magazine! All one had to do was look at the custom made stand and nicely dressed adults around to see what was going on here.
2. Why is it you never see kids actually doing any work these days, like pulling weeds,cutting grass or shoveling snow??? Too much work for them? They refuse to do it? They might get dirty or hurt themselves? If you want to teach your child the value of work send them out to do chores for neighbors. They will meet neighbors,get well needed exercise and make money from work not from you just giving it to them! They won't learn any of this from asking for free donations for charity.
3.Lemonade stands for charity is one thing. Learning to value work and how to run a small business is very different. Non profit charity orgs or capitalism, don't mix apples with oranges, er lemons...
Dove 'Real Women' Craigslist Ad a Mistake: 'Not Approved,' Says Brand {Stylelist (Main)}
Jun 30th 2010 11:53AM Kristi,
Do you know why so many of these "more woman" women are angry? Because they are frustrated and single. They actually believed Oprah and all the women like her that lied to them. They believed that men want "inner beauty" and SHOULD love a woman for her inner self and ignore the outer self. Sounds great doesn't it? But the problem is all of these views are from fat women. When men try to tell women what they like they are lambasted. They are told they are shallow.
EXCUSE ME ladies but I know what I like, and I know what turns the juices on! We are all animals. In the animal world males are attracted to attractive and healthy females. NOT fat, "curvy", or "more woman" endomorph types. Those are terms made up by fat women to gloss over the fact they are fat or obese. The medical profession even caved in to demanding females with the BMI index. Most women actually have too much fat on that index! Look at the older Ht-Wt models of the 60-70's that are accruate and unbiased.
Stop fighting nature and learn from it. Lose the weight and then you will feel more beautiful because you are more attractive. All the shoes,clothes,hair styles,dresses,jewelry etc won't make you feel any better the day after you bought them if you don't feel and look attractive in the first place.
