May 21st 2013 7:12PM Sept 2003 I had a s ports coat tailored and went through scanners many times with it on. One trip I threw it in a basket on the belt to the scanner. They found a double edged razor blade in the coat.
This led to months of back and forth and I finally found a receipt for the tailoring and the evening before I was due in court, I got a call from the DA saying to skip it and they sent the coat back to me via mail sans razor blade.
For about 5 years after that event, I was targeted for extra scrutany and examination each time I flew and I flew a lot.
My take on this is that there are times when TSA gets it right. I would like to think that anyone taking RAZORs onto a flight should get this treatment. I did not feel like I was being over scrutanized or abused. I felt that it is good policy in spite of the fact that I was totally innocent. Mostly, I do not respect the TSA but wanted to give my owpersonal single example of them doing the RIGHT THING. Let us be positive in finding ways to help them be what they need to be. First thing would be to have stricter criteria for their employment. In December 2002, I was flying out of Dulles and ALL of the screeners were Arabs.. Seriously, all the prescreeners were women with the Arab garb. Considering that Arab women are typically dominated by the males, this scared the hell out of me. Can anyone doubt that most Arab women would obey their husbands and therefore, allow illegal items to be taken on board? This amazes me yet today. Also, many TSA folks are not even required to have a high school education or GED. Mostly, the selection is not premised on any mental level. TSA has a long way to go but let us help them with suggestions and not just bash them in blogs. Peace, Bob
Apr 2nd 2011 2:36AM If God did not want us to eat animals ... why did he make them out of meat??? People are also trying to save lions and tigers and bears, oh my. Last week on Discovery or some such channel, they did a documentary showing how lions hunt elephants. Talk about a slow and painful death..!
Imagine how much tearing, biting, etc., that lions have to do to kill a full sized elephant. Naturally they prefer to attack the babies. About a month ago on another documentary they showed a village in which the only livelihood the people had was to fish and gather honey. This makes it imperative that they go to swampy areas and heavy brush for their meger fare. The village has zero guns and loses many people every year from tigers. These tigers have been proven to have a slightly different DNA structure which ... they said ... makes them less fearful of people and the tigers actually come around the village hiding and waiting for anyone to get into a situation in which they can attack. These tigers EAT PEOPLE. Hey PETA, how about protecting these villagers? Aren't people of the genus ANIMAL? We are mamals so we must be protected. Those who say to transport the elephants elsewhere are nuts. The article said there are too many elephants already in that region. Glad to see that Bob is not some mamby pamby who will cower and adopt some PC stature to please people who have no balls or guts. Peace Bob Parsons. Enjoy! Like your attitude.

Jan 30th 2011 2:48PM Sandi, as with most other things, it is largely the person that makes for a good buy. I have had CPAs and 2 EAs and one EA was excellent and the other was plain stupid. Don't know how she got certified.
Suggest you discuss your tax problem with either a CPA or EA and go with the person who instills confidence and competence in you. There is probably no specific criteria to use to differentiate one competent entity from the other. Caveat Emptor.
Jan 30th 2011 2:00PM The GREEN tax rebate is limited to $1,500 for most things but for certain things, like a Geo-Thermal Heat Pump system, the 30% rebate is not limited to $1,500. I just put a system in for $26,582 and will get a rebate of $7974.60 from IRS and another $1,500 from my local power provider so my total out of pocket will be $17107.40. I expect to save over 30% more than if I had gotten a state of the art conventional heat pump. This also preheats my water in my water tanks. I had a terrible old system that was costing over $500 a month during the dead of winter. I expect to reduce this to about $175 to $200 worst case. Peace, Bob

Jan 11th 2011 2:54PM Hi John
Robert Thompson commented about you saying
John, You really are a fool!
That was really unkind and snobbish. I am sorry to see people react like that. Your concept is OBE but there is no reason an intelligent human should react by name calling. Thus I assume that Thompson is either not intelligent or not humane.
Better luck next comment John. Peace, Bob
