How would you change Apple's unibody MacBook / MacBook Pro? {Engadget}
Nov 21st 2008 7:18PM FIREWIRE is a HUGE issue.... 2 reasons.. First off, I was basically forced to purchase the MacBook Pro model due to lack of any FIREWIRE on the MacBook... Second, if you use a FW400 Device (obviously with a 9 pin to 6 pin adapter) it brings the whole FW Bus Speed down to 400.. And that's anywhere in the chain.. If it senses a FW400 device anywhere in the chain, it drops the speed to FW400 even if you have an 800 device attached. SECOND MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR ISSUE is the SCREEN HINGE.. While I give Apple credit for allowing the MBP to open to a wider angle, the HINGE is not strong enough to support the screen and at certain angles, the screen will "Fall Down" or close the notebook.. NOT COOL... I've had the screen hit me on the head a few times and it's NOT pleasant! Just my 2 Cents...

CNN's holographic freakout begins, seems totally bizarre and unnecessary {Engadget}
Nov 4th 2008 9:02PM Sounds good to me.... I've seen similar looking video in sports with Graphics.. Where a cameraman on a steadicam moves in & out of graphics as they expand and animate in 3D space.. So, I agree done with space markers and live motion tracking...
CNN's holographic freakout begins, seems totally bizarre and unnecessary {Engadget}
Nov 4th 2008 8:48PM Anyone know how they do this? Doesn't look like a hologram to me.. Looks like some sort of live "3D Motion Tracking" with live compositing (they match the angles of the live shot with the "hologram" shot).. I don't think he's actually looking at anything.. I believe they're digitally putting her in there.. I'd like to hear everyone else's take on this...
Pioneer's 32-inch KRL-32V KURO LCD HDTV gets unboxed {Engadget}
Oct 31st 2008 12:36AM Yes.. This must be the overseas model.. What they do is double the scan rate to achieve a "smoother" picture.. I'm not a big fan... 50 Hz > 100 Hz (overseas) 60 Hz > 120 Hz I'm sure there's a US model coming....
