Jake Owen Is Single in the City {The Boot}
Feb 2nd 2009 8:18PM Well, if that's the case, wouldn't he want the girl to be interested in him, regardless? It's a date! Dates are generally the way most people use to get to know other people and determine if they want to have a relationship.... How are you supposed to figure that out if you don't ask any questions?!?!
Jake Owen Is Single in the City {The Boot}
Feb 2nd 2009 5:51PM As far as his "worst date" goes: the girl that he took to a baseball game was proabaly asking him questions about baseball so that he would think she was interested in learning about something that he enjoys. That shouldn't be annoying, it should be endearing. At least she wasn't sitting at the game, bored out of her mind! She was trying to engage him and take an interest. I don't listen to country music, but this guy seems like a jerk.... Taking a gilr to a ball game, and her asking questions about it certainly don't seem to qualify as the "worst date"
Got more than one carry-on? That'll be 40 bucks, or you don't fly {WalletPop}
Feb 2nd 2009 4:58PM It seems that airlines are going about these problems in the incorrect manner. They are trying to cust their noses off to spite their faces.... What they don't seem to understand is that customers want courtesy and consideration, and the impression (even if false) that they are being taken care of by the airlines. But they have put themselves into a cycle that will only make it worse on the consumer.
If a traveler could check 2 reasonably-sized bags at no extra charge, then they wouldn't try to cram extra bags into the overhead compartments, which would eliminate the need to charge for carry-on bags.
I would gladly pay more money for a flight that 1) doesn't charge for checked baggage 2) offers a drink on the flight 3) offers a small snack on the flight (pretzels, at least!) 4) has courteous staff. How much would that all cost per person? $20? Who wouldn't pay $20 to eliminate the hassels that keep piling up on us as consumers?
I think if an airline realized that people are wiling to pay a little more if they offer a little more, it would be beneficial to everyone! Who wants to fly when it seems that they want to squeeze every penny that they can from you? Somehow, customer service has been lost in our country and the airlines are the worst.... Traveling used to be fun! Let's get back to fun!!!
Dad Chains Himself to Electric Meter to Save Daughter's Life {ParentDish}
Nov 18th 2008 1:49PM I am wondering why this family wasn't utilizing public assistance... If the father wasn't working, shouldn't the family have been eligible for money to help pay the bills? I live in WV and if you can show a financial need, the power company will reduce the charges of your electric bill to what you can manage per month. I've never used the service, but I was on the power co's website and it described the program that they offer for disadvantaged families. Also, the power company must have tried to collect the amount many times before and then gave them a break- otherwise it seems pretty hard to rack up $2000 in past due bills. I know that I was a few days late last month, and we got a couple calls every day for a $95 bill.
I feel sorry for this family, because I am sure that the situation is overwhelming, but it doesn't seem that they are taking advantage of all the resources that might be available to them so that this doesn't happen again.
The Most Irritating Phrases in the English Language {Lemondrop}
Nov 13th 2008 2:21PM Mitch,
I have to agree with your dislike of "awesome" but most people forget that it can have many uses since the word technically means "with awe" - and that can be good or bad. Everyone tends to think that saying something is awesome refers to being cool, splendid, or delightful. But you can easily use the word to describe something disturbing or horrifying. Or elating and wonderous. As long as that something that you are describing makes you feel full of awe at the sight or thought, it can be awesome - good or bad.

Nov 11th 2008 4:40PM HAHAHA! I've spent the whole day at work sick with a sinus infection (don't worry, I work with my husband so I'm not sneezing on any unsuspecting coworkers) and your comment was the only thing this whole day that has made me smile! Thanks!
AOL Straw Poll: Oct. 3-10 {Politics Daily}
Oct 15th 2008 7:38PM In His Name,
Does it matter where I got my information? Can you prove that it isn't true? Republicans are always spouting insubstantiated information, and people who are either too uninformed to know, or too ignorant to care, hear it and think that it's the truth! Why should I have to explain and document what I hear and repeat, when no one else seems to feel that need?

Sep 16th 2008 4:00PM When we were young, my little brother had a friend that was the pickiest eater I have ever seen..... he puts all others to shame!!! This boy would only eat CoCo Wheats, and nothing else. And I literally mean NOTHING! His mother would fix them for breakfast and then make them and take them to school for his lunch (even in a thermos, I am sure they would have been gross by lunch time) and then again for dinner. Every day. I think that this went on til he was maybe 10 or so.... Can you imagine eating the same thing every meal, every day for years?!?
