Trump Fights For His Scottish Dream {Luxist}

Jun 11th 2008 9:00AM As a Scot I applaud Trump's vision. It will bring desperately needed jobs and income to an area that has lost so much with the decline of the scottish oil industry. It wil also bring a broader income to Scotland as a whole. The development will actually have a very small longterm impact on the sand dune habitat of the local wildlife and will not affect Balmedie Beach and Country Park. Scottish Natural Heritage need to get their heads out of their own a*ses and look at the longterm benefits not only of the economy but of the area as a whole. 20% of Scotland are protected areas controlled by Scottish Natural Heritage and Trumps golf course plans intrude upon only a small part of dunes. Even the most ardent environmentalist must concede that a long term effect is negligable if any. I think that it is really either a "jobsworth" situation or someone isnt getting their palms greased.

The Pope Speaks Out Against Luxury {Luxist}

Jan 7th 2008 1:36PM Perhaps if the Catholic church wants to preach on redistributing wealth it could set an example by selling off the art treasures that it owns and redistributing this wealth to the poor and starving....

Hermes Makes Carbon Fiber Fabulous {Luxist}

Jan 4th 2008 4:06PM Did a search and could only come up with this from an interview in the New York times Dec 20th 1987....

"Despite his company's rich history, Mr. Dumas-Hermes likes to talk about his company's place in the modern world. He mentions that there are robots in the printing plant, that the carbon fiber in his new Hermes briefcase is the same as on the exterior of France's Ariane rocket,"

Diamonds in Glass {Luxist}

Jan 4th 2008 3:50PM Tack-orama! Another example that taste and cost don't neccesarily go together. I think that maybe the main problem are the uninspired designs. Swarovski do a range of wine glasses with crystals in the stems which retail for $300-400 and are infinately more attractive than these glasses. The stones set in the black glass do look pretty and with some proper design input could create some spectacular pieces.

The $30 Million Diamond Bikini {Luxist}

Feb 21st 2006 10:02AM This whole tread has made me laugh!

1. Its a gimmick, comissioned a prop. It will never be sold. It was created to break a record and will be broken down and the stones used for other purposes. It is ugly, totally impractical but is a great piece of advertising for the creator, the magazine, and the model.

2. The model is beautiful. Anyone who says otherwise obviously has personal issues!! She is doing a very well paid job as an astute businesswoman who uses her God given talents to their fullest. Those commentors who stoop to namecall should be ashamed of themselves, ignornace and jealousy are definately NOT attractive.

3. Airbrushing is a fact of life, show me a professional advertising or editorial photo that hasn't been airbrushed.

4. I am not surprised that this thread has generated so many comments, it is afterall about an advertisment which has obviusly done what it set out to do. Strange though that the item about the $1.65 million dollar diamond studded fruitcake (another ludicrously expensive totally useless item) hasn't raised a single comment since it was posted at the start of December! Am I the only person who finds that more vulgar?

Azimut 75 {Luxist}

Jan 21st 2006 9:55AM Finally someone agrees with me!! I cannot understand the reasoning why someone who can afford to spend millions on a yacht is happy to have the interior look like a tacky 70's caravan. "Trailer-trash chic"?
