LIVEBLOG: President Obama's press conference on the Auto Industry {Autoblog}
Mar 30th 2009 11:49AM Why even buy up that? Fiat has huge factories in Brazil, and could buy a nice Mexican Maquiladora. All they need are the dealership facilities. Imagine... One day every Chrysler sign in the US being replaced with a Fiat/Alfa Romeo sign. Each dealership filled to overflowing with swarthy Eurotrash salesmen swarming to sell me a warrantied new Alfa..... (note, writer has now descended into comotose state of happiness/ frothing).

Mar 28th 2009 1:03PM Seriously! And a 288 GTO, F40, and an Enzo...but no F50? Its when you try REALLY hard, and come up just short, that your failure is most glaring. Now sell everything, start again, and get ir right this time. And throw in a BMW 2002 turbo.

Mar 26th 2009 3:57PM Exactly. Look how much trouble Hyundai/Kia still has in the US after a decade of selling cars that were less than par. Its taken at least another decade to turn the tide of public opinion. Never mind the Daewoos of this world that fail before they can reshape public opinions, and the Audis that have to suffer from false perceptions of quality problems. I STILL hear people complain "Audis... aren't those the cars that accelerate on their own?".

Mar 12th 2009 11:36PM MY GOD. Look at that front wing. It seems to be made at the same time by a homeless, hobo-drifter machinist; and a genius fluid-motion engineer. I can see the rivets and support structures, but it also has a liquid and flowing grace! Two support posts, supporting two demi-arches, each with it's own ending winglet. And both-seemingly at the SAME angle to the right- THE RIGHT, about 15 degrees. And the steps at the tops, first 1 cm then 10. And the "notches" of each cutting edge on the splitter plane. The simple triangles in the middle? Surely some engineer included these not to make the car faster, but to ask us all "why am I here? what is the meaning of existence?" GENIUS!!!! Even if it doesn't work (as it surely musn't) GENIUS!!!!!
Ford reopening Cleveland Engine Plant No. 1 to produce EcoBoost V6 {Autoblog}
Feb 27th 2009 11:37AM "but the job security that comes with being the first in the world to build the automaker's most advanced engine is surely welcome."
Like the job security all thoses eastern European workers had building GM's most advanced CVT transmission. Not saying it's the same thing, but I'm always scared by automeker's ambitious new technology products.

Feb 24th 2009 5:55PM Assuming an intake tube goes into that throttle body, it looks like that engine on that stand has an immpossibly hard to get to oil filter housing.

Feb 6th 2008 4:48PM So ugly.... SO UGLY!!!
I think it would be awesome if they gave it a flying H, like the Mercedes star. Don't be ashamed of your econo box history Hyundai, shove how far you've come in everybody's face. Here in America, you can barely even call it success if its not properly flaunted.
Getting greasy with BMW's M Dual Clutch transmission {Autoblog}
Jan 17th 2008 4:32PM Oh thank god. Regardless of their merits, auto-manuals with a stick go up through the gears by pulling back, and down by pushing forward. Why is the industry increasingly dyslexic on this basic point?
