Mopar Avenger Rally Car: More power, less pork... and not for production [w/video] {Autoblog}

Apr 13th 2011 4:26PM There are no FWD Formula Drift Cars...check out Vaughn Gitten Jr. laughing when Adam Carolla asks if there are on the last Car Cast (Sandy Ganz is a tool and I listen every week to hear how the "Professor" will mis-speak). There will always be teen drift fanboys in the highschool parking lot abusing Mom's Civic.

My point was that this car was pointless, unless you count taking the suits out for a track day in a slushbox heap with a big e-brake handle (and a Marelli logo) a point.

I never said there were no FWD rally cars...of course there are.

Yet another sign that Americans don't get it...Where was Mr. Marchionne? He get's it. To quote George Carlin..."You ain't cool! You're #$%^# chilly! And chilly ain't never been cool!"

I bet he shows up when they throw a FIAT badge on it, real suspension under it, real gearbox and MultiAir in it, paint it red and take it racing.

Apr 13th 2011 3:10PM just watched the video...Chrysler execs in racing suits and mopar hats.

The handbrake turn at 1:45 made me giggle...looked like something a pimple faced teenager would try in front of a group of girls to look cool...I certainly would not call this a rally car, and there is no such thing as a FWD Drift Car.

Five Mind-Blowing Innovations from Mercedes-Benz {Autoblog}

Apr 12th 2011 3:25PM I agree...too much tech is not always better. I would love to be able to go to the benz dealer and buy a new replacement for my 1981 240d. 4 speed manual, slower than dirt diesel (0-60...yes, eventually), roll up windows and MBTex vinyl seats...and I would gladly pay to have a car that reliable again. It had 250k on it when it was totalled, and still ran like a champ.

Ed Welburn's Top 10 Chevy designs of all-time {Autoblog}

Apr 8th 2011 10:52AM My point was that, when you compare the cost/quality/equipment ratio of the Belair to the Cruze (and the Cruze's competitors), there is no comparison.

There was nothing like the '55 when it came out. It created a design language that everyone else copied and scrambed to keep up.

I'm a Ford guy...and I would take a Tri-five Chevy over a same era Ford any day. Not to mention the intro of the Small block around the same time. Chevy was a leader...now they are the ones scrambling...and from the looks of the Cruze, they are doing the right things.

Ed Welburn's Top 10 Chevy designs of all-time {Autoblog}

Apr 8th 2011 10:14AM I think that Welburn is stretching when he says that the '55 Belair looked more expensive than it was...and then relates it to the Cruze. I would forever refrain from using Belair and Cruze in the same paragraph. The Cruze is nothing revolutionary...it is just the next evolution of the Cavalier...change the name it's all the same.

Before anyone flames me, the new Cruze is certainly a FAR better car than the one it's replacing. But the styling is no where near as revolutionary as the Belair.

And just to throw another wrench in the mix, compare a '55 Belair with the immediate postwar Coachbuilt Italian cars, especially Pinin Farina and you'll see what posters the tri-five designers had hanging in thier offices. I certainly agree that the '55 Belair is the best looking production Chevy ever produced. The best looking Chevy ever Was the '54 Corvette Nomad show car.

Chevy showed a '54 Corvette Style Nomad on the Solstice's Kappa Platform...big missed opportunity.

NASCAR could test fuel injection as early as July {Autoblog}

Apr 7th 2011 9:49AM When you have massive amounts of torque, gearing is not nearly as important as you think...especially when everyone else has the same equipment as you. It becomes somewhat of a chess match on the road courses (pocono as well...some drivers have chosen to shift there in the short chute). Short gear for better acceleration out of the corners, tall gear for longer legs...

That is racing...and if you've never seen a torn down carburetted cup motor, you would be in for a huge surprise about the tech involved. Rumor has it that the new Ford can survive well OVER 10k rpm...

Mar 22nd 2011 5:08PM Did you even read this before you posted it? Why should a company take responsibility for something they are not responsible for?

In what world did your comment mean anything other than, "big company bad, little person good?"
