Jan 2nd 2011 5:09PM If you like weird names, change your own; that way you get to use it and hopefully enjoy it every day. But don't foist off today's whims on small children who have to carry them throughout their lives.
Nov 29th 2010 7:21PM That's OK for LA, even in November. I just hope she wasn't headed for Buffalo.
Mar 17th 2010 8:15PM This really is beating a dead horse. Conan got dumped and Leno was moved back because, with NBC's scheduling gamble, and it was a gamble, neither one was getting the ratings the network wanted. No personality conflicts here. NBC made a bad business decision and, to minimize the damage, Leno, with better ratings is back where he was and Conan is out of a job. It happens in other businesses all the time. The brass screwed up. The underlings (if you can call Conan with his multi-millions an underling) get the blame. In getting rid of Conan, of course the brass may have screwed up yet again, but that's another matter and to be determined in the future, but not Leno's responsibilty.
Nov 2nd 2009 7:06PM You think Shaffer is funny? Oh, my.
Aug 14th 2009 3:14PM The handoff of work to foreign companies has more to do with the reciprocity of the airlines of those foreign companies buying Boeing airplanes (rather than Airbus). But, with the need for Boeing manufacturing engineers to monitor the new composites technology so closely, it would have made more production sense either to have done more of the work in-house or to have used U.S. manufacturers as subcontractors--to simplify and reduce the cost of coordination. This is not to take a thing away from foreign composite fabricators, but just to say that working with domestic subs is more efficient..
Nov 27th 2006 7:24PM Despite the advertised wine glut, wine still is way too expensive, particularly if consumed regularly with dinner. Purists will cringe, but Charles Shaw (two buck Chuck) wines really are pretty good. I especially like the Shiraz.
