Celebrity Beauty Looks of the Day: Malin Akerman, Jennifer Hawkins and Natalie Morales {Stylelist (Main)}
Mar 2nd 2011 9:22PM When we see and look at a woman, it's not her makeup we should be noticing. If we're looking at her makeup rather than the woman, she's probably wearing too much makeup.
Screen Legend Jane Russell Dead at 89 {PopEater}
Feb 28th 2011 11:54PM Howard Hughes was purported to be obsessed with her ample breasts and hired an engineer to design a bra to keep them perky.
Screen Legend Jane Russell Dead at 89 {PopEater}
Feb 28th 2011 9:44PM I'm sorry to hear of her loss. Like so many of Hollywood's famous sex symbols, her image was very different from who she was in her personal life. She never considered herself a sex symbol at all. She was very religious, but did struggle with a drinking problem. She had an unwanted pregnancy as a teenager and was able to have children after that, so all her children were adopted. She also wasn't the tough broad she may have appeared to be. She was a very sweet, tender-hearted person. Rest in peace, Jane.
Why Does Everyone Cheat on Elizabeth Hurley? {PopEater}
Feb 16th 2011 9:16PM The statement that "men cheat because they're not sexually satisfied" is just not true! There's a certain breed of man who loves the chase more than the relationship and the woman. Once he's "conquered" or "caught" his prey, he loses interest and is on the chase again for another "trophy". Women lose all their self-confidence when this happens to them, and the world often blames them as well (like this writer) by saying the men were not sexually satisfied (so it's all her fault), when the fact is these guys just get bored after the chase. This breed of man is always after the sexiest trophy and has no interest whatever in the woman as a person, or what's in her head or her heart. The problem is that it's hard for a woman to know if he "loves" her for herself or because she's a trophy. Exceptionally beautiful women have a hard time with men. Think of all the famous beautiful, sexy women who had very unhappy lives and a long line of husbands and lovers and relationships that didn't last: Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Madonna (to name a few). Exceptional beauty can be a curse, you see.
Makeover Diaries: A Slimmer, Smoother and Sexier New Me {Stylelist (Main)}
Feb 13th 2011 11:21AM Her "character and inner beauty" were there all along -- but no one noticed because they were too distracted by the fat girl disguising all that character and inner beauty. Get real. All the world is drawn to physical beauty, regardless of what country or culture we live in. I do experiments on my own all the time about this. When I'm running around town doing normal errands, I am always treated more politely and with more respect by retail clerks when I've taken the time to do my hair and makeup and wear nice clothes -- as opposed to not doing my hair and makeup and wearing grungy clothes and then people are more dismissive, I'm ignored and treated with disrespect.
The Black Eyed Peas Major Halftime Fail {PopEater}
Feb 7th 2011 11:29AM I'd never seen Black Eyes Peas before and didn't realize they were so awful! I just changed the channel during their "performance" (and I do use that term lightly). What were they thinking?
Christina Aguilera Botches National Anthem at Super Bowl, Admits Mistake {PopEater}
Feb 7th 2011 11:01AM This is much ado about something that happens all the time. ALL singers flub the lyrics from time to time (that's why they have teleprompters). It's just too bad it happened as she was singing the the Star Sprngled Banner, which is a very difficult song. At least she hit all the high notes, which most singers can't do so many fake it. I'm more concerned about that shaggy witchy wig she was wearing. She normally looks much better -- too bad this was all happened before millions of viewers, perhaps her biggest audience ever.
My Spectacular Job: Female Firefighter {AOL Jobs}
Feb 4th 2011 12:05PM I had a similar experience entering an all-male line of work (except that what I did didn't require such physically demanding work and physical strength). I was a hired as a secretary at Xerox and as a single mom, I wanted to work into a position to increase my earnings, so after the company was being forced to place women in jobs other than strictly clerical positions, I got into sales. When I excelled, I thought my male peers would be happy for me, but they hated me for it. I had a manager whose only comment was "she's got a great ass" when I was sales rep of the year. I was promised one territory and then got another one that meandered over a 50 mile length covering a largely rural area with few businesses that would ever need a copying machine. When I came up with innovative standardized written sales proposals, another male sales rep got the credit. When I went out on sales calls with a young male recruit to help him, the male prospect would direct all his questions to the trainee rather than to me. Another customer commented "is this a gimmick, to have women selling machines?" Someone else said "sure, all she has to do is cross her legs to get the guy's attention and she's got the order". This was in the early 1970's and much has changed, but human nature doesn't change. I'd just glad I'm out of there. The CEO of Xerox is now a woman.
Kate Middleton's Reiss Dress to Hit Stores in February {Stylelist (Main)}
Jan 29th 2011 12:33PM That white dress looks FANTASTIC! Brunettes always look great in white, offwhite and ivory -- I think white reflects light back onto their face so just lights up their faces.
Oprah Winfrey: Big Reveal is Long-Lost Sister {BV Buzz}
Jan 24th 2011 11:36AM I'm quite surprised it's taken this long for this long lost sister to appear -- but I expect there'll be hundreds more appearing in the not-too-distant future, and she's probably had a host of other long lost relatives crop up in the past. I don't think this story is all that newsworthy, and will certainly not watch her show just to see this reunion. Who cares?
