Bedbugs Disclosures Now Required by NY State {Housingwatch}
Nov 18th 2010 11:38PM HB- Google "bed bug bites" and then think twice about your thoughtless comment.
You're very unfortunately ignorant and uninformed. Bed Bugs are a public health concern as well as a burden of mental stress to people who have to live with them (and citizens deserve disclosure and protection); and live with them they will if they are unknowingly invaded as treatment can't be done well preventatively or done well proactively for that matter-they will spawn and return. People have the right to know it they can willingly avoid them. I wouldn't rent an apartment I knew had BBs because our building already has them and there is no getting rid of them in a multi-resident building because landlords can't mandate extermination-and without that being done all at one time, BBs vacate to another non-poisonous apartment and return and spread rapidly.
I wouldn't wish them on anyone, but if you experienced sleepless nights followed by a wake-up call to stinging, violently itchy and possibly later infected welts all over your body that you may be highly allergic to and may be visible to others prompting them to treat you like a leper, you'd be singing a different tune.
Also, people are on high alert about them and many have been discriminated against for being known to have BBs, sometimes even being fired from jobs. This means they affect home life, work life, public health, physical health, mental health and personal life. HOW IS THIS NOT A PROBLEM!!???
They are a HUGE problem and will make it to your location soon, I promise you. Anything we can do to eradicate them should be done NOW.
