Aug 8th 2011 3:49PM When a church is taken over to be used as a home or apartments it must first be de- or un- sanctified or de- or un- consecrated. I'm not sure of the term. This makes it no longer a holy ground. I know a woman who purchased a small church that was sold as the congregation had out-grown it. It is just amazingly beautiful. But she also put an enormous amount of money into it to make it into a home.
The tragic thing about the abandoned churches here is that there are so many beautiful parts to them that could be used, the windows, furniture, mouldings and panelings, lights. It's such a shame to let that all go to waste when it could find new life elsewhere.

Apr 1st 2011 9:06PM I am happy to see so many comments showing that people are not believing all the crap they read! I also collect. Some things her and there. When i am tired of a specific collection I give it away or sell it. And I don't feel the need to replace it for something else. I enjoy the hunt for whatever catches my eye at the moment. To decide if my simple collections are linked to painful past occurrances or just fun loving hobbies would take a lot more detective work than an internet article that bathes itself in negativity.
