Honda Performance Development unveils new ARX-01e LMP1 racer {Autoblog}

Mar 17th 2011 3:15PM To many mistakes in that article to even bother shaking a stick. I'll stick to the glaring stuff:

-- Highcroft's car has been badged "HPD" for a year now. The Acura name was cast off at the end of 2009, with Highcroft winning the series title and de Ferran Racing winning their last ALMS race.

-- Patron was Series sponsor starting last year (continuing this year), and had been on the Highcroft car for several years. They're also the sponsor for Scott Sharp's Extreme Speed Motorsports Ferrari.

Mar 17th 2011 2:25PM Correct: Badging on the car changed from Acura to HPD for the 2010 season. The writer got a few facts backwards, and some exhortations were off by a mile.

2011 Mini Countryman named IIHS 'Top Safety Pick' {Autoblog}

Mar 7th 2011 10:31AM Anyone who thinks there is some pro-American (much less anti-import) bias in our Federal government, obviously didn't bother to watch the Senate hearings in 2008. Watching two of the three US-based manufacturers de-pantsed and ridiculed all over the floor was one of the most humiliating moments of the past decade.

And no, to address the point directly, there is no import/American bias going on at NHTSA.

Mar 7th 2011 9:49AM Why does anybody care what the Insurance Lobby thinks of any vehicle? NHTSA does the real unbiased testing, folks.

Jan 22nd 2011 9:20PM Mandatory sentences are crap, but I do agree that engineering cars to be ever-safer has done nothing to make better drivers on the road.

Gregory House nailed it: "If you want someone to drive safely, you don't put an airbag in front of him - you put a machete aimed at his throat."

For most drivers, traction control and stability control are helpful - they've reduced both the incidence and severity of many crashes, and reduced injuries and fatalities. The downside, however, is people who drive like total arsebuckets without fear because "I've got an airbag - I can't possibly get injured!" and "I've got anti-lock brakes, I can't possibly crash!"

Anyone who's ever spent 5 minutes reading insurance claims on any given day, has seen those exact quotes.

Meet The Green Hornet's original Black Beauty {Autoblog}

Jan 18th 2011 3:23PM Wow... in the time it took me to write that, 7 more people had to chime in "NO DUDE ITS JAY CHOU!"

Can we restart the comments before we have 50 guys screaming the same thing without bothering to look first?

Jan 18th 2011 3:22PM I hope the thread gets locked once we get to the 10th correction of the name of Kato's actor in the movie. A quick 2-second look at the comments can save you from being the 10th guy in a row to say what everyone else just said.

And... that car looks freakin' COOL!
