Ask Engadget: Best backpack for traveling with gadgets? {Engadget}
Jun 20th 2008 3:18PM I have "The Clyde" bag from Acme Made and I think its great. Big enough for a 17" plus a change of clothes. Looks good (as in not over the top but not boring Targus style). Extremely well made, great customer service. And light for a big bag.
I searched far and wide looking for the right bag. I looked at Waterfield (great but a little to traveling salesrep for me), Tom Bihn (great but a little too casual), and Crumpler and Timbuk2 and Swiss Army. All make good products. I don't think you'd go wrong with any of them.

I also have a Chrome messenger bag. It's built like a tank. But it is on the heavy side, and not the greatest bag for business use.
If i didn't get the Clyde, I probably would have gotten a Crumpler bag. I think they look great and are very well made. I didn't get one for 2 reasons:
No handle on top. This is a problem with most messenger bags. A handle is incredibly convenient for a lot of things.
No outside pockets. This is also a problem with a lot of traditional messenger bags. Also incredibly convenient to have outside pockets for quick access items.

Jun 19th 2008 5:57PM Danakin, there is this great product. It's called Google. You should try it. But hey, here you go:

CAFE is the US federal mandated fuel economy standards. Companies selling cars in the US had to have a certain average fuel economy. The Escort sales offset sales of other cars.
There are many reasons for a company to sell at a loss. Gillette gives razors away. They make it up in blades.
HP practically gives printers away. They make it back in toner.
IBM basically NEVER made money selling PC computers. They sold them to provide a complete line of products for corporate customers. Eventually they sold the division to Lenovo.
Microsoft sells a lot of things at a loss to build market.
And FYI, CAFE standards are coming back. Which means GM needs to move vehicles like the Volt to offset guzzlers like the Camaro, SUVs, etc. Not to mention that the Volt is already being used as a halo vehicle for things like flexfuel engines.

There are plenty of reasons to bitch about SUVs besides fuel economy.
Here's one: the premature deterioration of roads due to the obscene weight of SUVs. Everyone gets to pay for the selfishness of SUV owners.

Jun 19th 2008 4:30PM Danakin, you are wrong. The old Ford Escort was sold at a loss back in the 80's and 90's. And Ford sold hundreds of thousands of them.
Ford sold them to meet CAFE standards.
In fact, most small economy cars are break even at best.

Why use winmo? Because, of the 5 smartphone os available, 2 are exclusive. Only Palm, Symbian and winmo are easily licensed.
Palm sadly is a lame duck.
Which would leave winmo and symbian. And I'm sure Microsoft offered to throw in a free country if Sony licensed winmo.
The thing is, there are lots of factors involved, like pricing and support and features. Quality and usability probably ranked pretty low on Sony's criteria.
As for HTC, you do know they are practically the in-house handset developer for Microsoft, right? HTC has a partnership with Microsoft and is the biggest Winmo device maker in the world...

Jun 13th 2008 4:55PM imo, stand alone GPS hardware is dead or dying anyway.
Basically every new car has or will have GPS nav as either standard or an option.
Why buy a stand alone unit if your car already has it? Or you can get 90% of the functionality from your cell phone?
Tom Tom is smart to move to multi-platform software.

What phone are you talking about? Because the iPhone does have bluetooth. And it does have a speakerphone, which also makes it pretty handsfree once you establish a call.
And who the hell cares about SD slots? 16GB not enough for you?
Actually, now that I saw you called it iFlop, I should have known you are a troll and talking out of your ass...
Dell E and E Slim revealed, taking on Eee and Air in one fell swoop {Engadget}
Jun 13th 2008 1:07AM They should have named it the Nell-E.
Or Easy E.
Or really pulled out the stops and called it the Dell-ii. That way they could have copied Asus and Nintendo in one fell swoop.
I'll have a corned beef on rye, please.

Jun 10th 2008 1:23PM These are SO MUCH better looking than the lame Alienware cases.
Everytime I see an Alienware case, I get a craving for some beef jerky.
And don't even get me started on the standard PC philosophy of "blinky lights = speed and style."
btw, what's with that funky looking trackpad?

Jun 9th 2008 3:33PM well I'm going to get it, just for the 3g and gps. Longer battery life is very nice too...
But I'm not happy about the weak ass 2 megapixel camera. And no flash! wtf.
I'm wondering when the hell US cell phone carriers will allow >2 megapixel phones. I'm guessing never.
