Herb Williams Sculpts with Crayons {Luxist}
Jul 9th 2010 6:22PM Dear K,V, C and Marcie,
If you think that this is innovative, genuine art, I have a series of Velvet Elvis paintings you would love.
I agree with Jeff. He was commenting on the obvious and overused trends in contemporary art- as when all paintings had zen haiku words scrawled all over them (1995 through 2004)
The concept here is tired and far too over-used to have any impact. The subject matter and execution is not even up to "freshman art major" quality.

Cannes Review: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull {Cinematical}
May 28th 2008 2:14PM Let me beigin:
I LOVE Indians Jones and A.) Raiders and B.) Last Crusade.
I watched them both over 1000 times.
And now for my review of "Crystal Skull".....
1.) Harrisin Ford looked great and did his job well.
2.) I really missed the great side-kicks lioke John Rhyss- Davies and "Marcus"- Indiana seemed virtually alone in this movie.
3.) The actual "Crystal Skull" was a really bad looking prop. It had no "weight". It looked like plastic with metallic foil inside and it had more on-screen time than Mr. Ford.
4.) There were NO memorable lines or dialogue, like the there were in the previous movies. And no memorable humorous parts.
5.). Film Great, John Hurt, was relegated to a mute, idiot zombie-(an inexplicable waste of world-class talent).
6.) Karen Allen's part was no more than a nostalgic cameo- big mistake! SHe should have been in the film from the very "get-go"!!!
&.) Reviewers should STOP talking about how how Harrison Ford looked and concentrate on how old Spielberg and Lucas are getting in terms of their cinematic judgment. They are the very best, but did not show it in this film.
There were probably TOO MANY COOKS in the recipe for this film and also TOO MANY market tests and research reports.
The film should have been the singular vision of Spielberg/ Lucas and I find the evidence to the contrary.
In Summation: If "Crystal Skull" were to be aired on T.V. tonight, I would not watch it again. I would instead put on the DVD of "Raiders" and "Lost Ark"
Too bad. But it was GREAT to see Hrrison/Jones again and I would watch ANY movioe that he's in.
