Grapes of Galilee, Using Jesus To Sell Wine {Luxist}
Oct 9th 2007 5:34PM Too many of these comments assume:
1) that the sellers of the wine are Jewish - and if they are, so what?
2) that the label mentions Jesus by name - it does not.
3) that the depiction on the label is Jesus - we do not know for sure.
For centuries the image that is accepted of Jesus is of a homogenized, anglo saxon, sometimes blond figure that is easily digestible to the habitually prejudiced masses. That's partly because many Christians, while they may acknowledge that Jesus was Jewish, do not want him 'too Jewish'. And are also happy that he converted to Christianity.
Yeah, we all have sound minds when talking religion.

Oct 9th 2007 7:57AM Then why not label it so as not to offend: "Not Really The Blood Of You Know Who As, While Appetizing To Some, Isn't To Others And In Reality Can Only Be Digested As A Metaphor".
"Proper churches" do not make one feel less than part of God's family and do not preach about the exclusion of others whether or not they are "proper".

Oct 9th 2007 6:54AM Mad Christian - Don't you think churches are using Jesus to sell something? By the way, use spell check next time and people might take your rant more seriously.
Kermit to Fozzie: 'If You Were Gay' {Queer Sighted}
Jun 12th 2007 10:43PM My what a lively conversation we've got here replete with many people who just love to check their spelling as well as those who probably thought the world began only 6000 years ago.
First of all, some of use need to look up the word "parody". Avenue Q is a parody. This video was a parody. As a matter of fact, this message board has become a paroody for well thought out arguments.
Second of all, the gay community wants to be heard and accepted and will continue, God willing, to speak out. However, it's highly unlikely that they want to get caught up in the game that many play with the use of hateful or spiteful words some have used here. Think of why the general populace got behind the civil rights movement when they saw the water hoses and the attack dogs. It didn't take long to see who was in the wrong when the cameras were turned on. (Actually, it did take a while. But that's why they are called "struggles".)
Careful what you say today in a spiteful mood as it may come back to bite you 25 or 30 yrs down the line on a PBS special.
"Gramma, did you really feel that way?"
"Well, that was before I even had a clue that someone I loved could be gay."
For those who think that you are free to speak your mind with hatred, that is part of the point. Free speech has its measurements.
And for those of you who feel you need to assume unfounded things, this is written by a heterosexual.

25 Innovations That Shaped the 'Net {Switched}
May 3rd 2007 9:56AM Al Gore never said he "invented" the Internet. His work as a Congressman helped initiate and legislate its start or creation, but too many have fallen into believing the words that have been put into Gore's mouth. Go to the link below, if you care, to defuse the untruths:

Nov 7th 2006 4:46PM Or what about the baseball player who suffered burns on his chest because he tried to steam press his shirt while still wearing it? The suspender thing sounds probable knowing how those things can take off once released.
iTunes 7 turning out to have major glitches {Engadget}
Oct 21st 2006 11:51PM I just received an iPod 80 as a gift and while I was excited to receive this, it is not as easy to use as it's made out to be. At first I had a problem where I couldn't get iTunes to boot up (at all) but after a day of keeping at it and installing and re-installing, I was okay. This was highly frustrating, unfortunately.
The problem I now continue to have - and had with my previous iPod - is that when I load a cd into my computer, it's recognized as there but I get a msg that iTunes cannot get access to the internet to add the names and info for the cd and that I should check my internet connection. This happens while I am fully connected to the internet but nothing gets transferred to the iTunes library.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or how I can fix this problem? I'm assuming it is in my setup. If iTunes does not recognize my connection, I get no cover artwork and no access to the Store/Music Library. And why pay over $350 without any add ons or improvements?
