What Is Stealth Wealth? {Luxist}
Jul 3rd 2007 4:47PM #12 JEFF: Your candidness is very refreshing on this matter. I especially like your view of Paris Hilton, I've never thought of her in that regard, very well said.
#26 ernest: This 'class' that you consider to have more of than Trumps and Hiltons is not very discerning in countless grammar and spelling mistakes in your post.
Would You Pay Paris $1 Million to Teach? {Luxist}
Jun 29th 2007 5:55PM Jose: the people with those kinds of foregone conclusions have a very limited view of reality, and it usually stems from their own insecurities and issues of self-worth. Once they get over that, they'll see that there's more to this kind of success than a wealthy family and sex tape. Somewhere along the line the publicists were working very hard and spending a lot of money placing her on covers of fashion magazines, front rows of Cannes, billboards, etc.. For some business-oriented people it is very interesting to know the precise and intricate process used to manufacture a celebrity in such short time, why would anyone have to be "dumbest human being alive" to listen to someone who has done just that ??

Montblanc Star Lady Moonphase Diamonds {Luxist}
Jun 29th 2007 10:00AM Lord Snooty: Montblanc has somewhat established itself as a bone-fide fine watch company (though not my taste). Actually, $10K is pretty much the price for your 'average' swiss, solid gold case (/w diamonds) moonphase watch.
Kind of a peculiar movement, not widely used I would assume, but from what I see, there's no small seconds as the article suggests. You can see central seconds and date function on the dial.
Cheers
Would You Pay Paris $1 Million to Teach? {Luxist}
Jun 29th 2007 9:44AM I think if anyone was to teach about how to spin your own brand, how to build a global empire, how to manipulate media to your advantage -- it should be Paris. Ignore the sarcastic undertones, I'm dead serious. People give her a hard time (maybe rightfully so), but she went from a virtually unknown face to self-sustained bona-fide celebrity in less than 5 years, because you need something to talk about at the water-cooler on mondays at work. It's a calculated business, which is reaping its rewards now, good for her.

The "Fall of the Damned" Lampshade {Luxist}
Jun 27th 2007 4:53PM You'd have to be crazy to buy something like this. If you look closer, you'll notice that these sets of 'damned' are actually rotated copies of each other around the perimeter, and can be made in any 3D modeling program with stock models. The physical object is done by stereolithography (you can see the "grain" on the page) with what appears to be standard laser-cured resin. This process is used for rapid prototyping and is getting cheaper and cheaper. It severely lacks human touch, noble materials and variance of the "damned".
Limited edition, private collection, yea right. It's not like the artist is carving away the marble. Making more copies is virtually as easy as File --> Print.
And to have the decency to charge $42K for this pile!! Reminds me of a cheap, soul-less version of Rodin's 'Gates of Hell'.
Bulgari Assioma Multicomplication Squelette {Luxist}
Jun 19th 2007 6:24PM Very strange. To go with an all-out openworked movement and then to hide the tourbillon under the calendar dial ??
I do like the subtle day-month windows at 3 and 9 o'clock. The yellow-gold hands are fairly easy to read against the white metal movement too.
Chanel J12 Limited Edition Watch {Luxist}
Jun 18th 2007 5:17PM This is a more modest version (I can't believe I said that) of the Chanel Bale (J12 Tourbillon), which can be found here:

The rubies are definitely skillfully set
Forbes Features the World's Fastest Passenger Jets {Luxist}
Jun 14th 2007 12:48PM Forbes should check their sources, it looks like they googled-up their research and went with the first thing that came up.
The 747-8 is still in development with first flight scheduled for October 2009. Since we're talking passenger, Emirates have commitments for the -8 Freighters for their Emirates SkyCargo subsidiary.
Also, I would say that the typical cruise speed of Citation X is around Mach 0.82-0.85 (max speed flight is not fuel efficient), which is around the speed of a 747.
