Mac OS X 10.5.3 released {TUAW.com}
May 28th 2008 3:18PM Did the Time Machine page in Sys Prefs always show the amount of available space on your backup drive? Its probably just me, but I don't remember seeing this before.
Is your Airport Extreme suddenly Time Machine-happy? {TUAW.com}
Mar 19th 2008 7:14PM Also there appears to be a new feature under the Disks section of the APU.
There is an Archive button, the description says
"Select Archive to transfer the data from your Time Capsule disk to an AirPort disk connected via USB."
This potentially solves my one major gripe with TC and TM. The lack of off-site back ups.
Can I now take a TC backup (archive) and store at my brothers house?

Hello, my name is Chris and I ordered a new MacBook Air {TUAW.com}
Jan 20th 2008 3:02AM I totally agree. I also have a 15" MacBook Pro. Guess what; if I take away the features I hardly ever use (that includes the DVD drive) I end up the spec of a MacBook Air! For many people the Air fits their needs perfectly.
I also would like one for travelling. I do however worry a bit about how robust it will be over time.

Lotus Notes on the iPhone {TUAW.com}
Jan 18th 2008 8:48AM I am very closely associated with the security of mobile devices at my firm. I know for sure that we will not adopt the iPhone, no matter how good the Notes implementation is. There are a lots of reasons why not, however the main one is summarized as; our lack of ability to remotely manage the device. Until there is enterprise grade management for the iPhone it is simply not going to find a way into large corporations.
As for Notes being crappy, well I have been using it for nearly 15 years. While there are plenty of short comings , there is sill a lot you can do with Notes that cannot do with other applications. In particular in an off-line world. If any one believes that you can always be connected where every you are in the world is clearly delusional.
Regardless I still NEED an iPhone to test! :-)

Lotus Notes on the iPhone {TUAW.com}
Jan 18th 2008 8:09AM This is very big news!
The company I work for has many tens of thousands of users on Notes. Now they HAVE to buy me an iPhone to test! :-)

Leopard killed these freeware apps? {TUAW.com}
Dec 13th 2007 3:19PM Not an easy one for Apple to win.
All OS manufactures need to add more functionality with every release and at the same time wish to encourage third party application developers to build new applications that use those and possibly enhance those features. These new apps help sell the OS and in the case of Apple the hardware.
How good do would TextEdit have to be before you have no need to buy iWork? Clearly a ridiculous example but the same principle applies to all sorts of apps and OS features.

TUAW first look: FileMaker announces Bento organizer app {TUAW.com}
Nov 14th 2007 10:03AM This exactly what I have been waiting for since switching to the Mac nearly three years ago. I had several thousand records stored in MS Access. Full FileMaker was always going to be overkill, given the simplistic nature of the records. I have never found a suitable database until now.
Within 5 minutes I had import 4,700+ records into Bento with no issues at all. I have another 3,000 records in other databases to import now. The fact that I can have all the databases open at once is huge benifit.
The look and feel of the app and its ease of use make it certain I will be buying this as soon as it is out.

So what other tricks can we expect from Leopard? {TUAW.com}
Oct 16th 2007 3:52PM Time Machine is the one that worries me. It is simply not a backup system. People are going to be very disappointed with the limitations of TM.
