"Million Dollar Listing" house in Malibu to be Auctioned -- at 65 Percent Off Original listing price {Luxist}
Apr 15th 2010 10:35PM It is very interesting to see these high end auctions. I wonder if this is becoming a trend or will fade after this crisis resolves itself. There is one going to happen in Honolulu soon...no upset price either. It should be interesting. http://bonnebaker.com/oahu/DiamondHead/home/Aukai-Ave/1004631/

Wow! You need to chill down, man. Life should not be that stressful. Yes, taxes are terrible, but never underestimate happiness. There is always someone in a worse situation than you. Be thankful for what you have and live with a grateful heart. I am sure I could be much more wealthier if I lived some where else and pay less in taxes, but I choose for this life, so after work I can go surfing....and most importantly be happy.

Apr 13th 2010 10:50PM Yes, Hawaii, is an unfriendly state tax wise. I recall that Forbes has called us the 'Republic of Hawaii' too. The tax system can hit us at so many different sides. The general excise tax cuts deeper than a sales tax and we used to have lower property taxes, but that has changed with this real estate boom. With the local deficit I am expecting to see the property taxes rise even further. But, yes, the ocean views are lovely and the beaches are beautiful. We were also were voted the happiest state in country (http://bonnebaker.com/2010/02/18/hawaii-is-the-happiest-state-to-live), but I am sure that had nothing to do with taxes. Aloha!
