Restaurant Calls Toddler F-Word on Check {Slashfood}
Sep 11th 2009 3:53PM Maybe, JUST MAYBE, if they didn't eat out they could afford a babysitter? A Catch-22, I know, but if I am paying good money for a "nice" dining experience, I sure as hell don't want to be bothered by ANY of the diners in the restaurant....be they adult or child. Parents who insist upon taking infants and toddlers to restaurants are not only clueless, they are selfish and foolish, as well. You wanna take the kids along -- go dine at Chuck E. Cheese's for God's sake.
The First Ladies Wore White: Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni in France {BV on Style}
Jun 8th 2009 2:38PM Do any of these uber-snooty, think-they-know-it-all dullerati in the fashion world realize that white had been the color of morning in France for CENTURIES before Queen Victoria of England turned that color to black....and THAT to help slim her rather rotund middle? What a bunch of stupid and judgmental people "rule" our world and society. Nothing sickens me more than the media's assumption regarding OUR "obsession" over ANYTHING about celebrity, fashion or propriety...
Galley Gossip: Just a few things a flight attendant doesn't want to hear {Gadling}
Jan 28th 2009 8:57AM Customers treat hospitality and service workers so poorly and then wonder why they get attitude or poor service in return.
I grew up in the country club set, and while all the other snobbish members were demanding and condescending to the staff, my parents taught us kids to treat the staff like gold: talk with them at convenient times, find out about their life, remember their names and call them by name when next you see them, be glad to see them again and say so, compliment their service, always say thank you and please, recommend them to their superiors when they've done something especially well for you.
Follow these rules and you'll always be a welcome and favorite customer.
And indeed, when we visit our favorite five-star resort in the Caribbean every year, we find that the staff has genuinely missed us. We welcome each other by name, and there's always a special gift awaiting us in our rooms. They remember our favorite drinks and always assign us the best table in the dining room, right on the sea wall. The chef will even make us a favorite dish from yore that is no longer on the menu, if he can.
Kindness begets kindness. I would much rather be kind, make a friend of my server, and truly enjoy my service experience than cop an attitude or be rude and risk getting poor service in return.
Another unruly family kicked off plane {Gadling}
Jul 9th 2008 10:41AM Does it surprise anyone that these extremely poor and hardly-controlled people (Mom's 500+ pounds, Dad's still wearing a greasy pony tail at his age, Auntie's still smoking during her pregnancy) have poorly behaved children? These children are not the problem. When children are raised correctly (not in some free-will, double-wide with little to no supervision, I'm sure), then they behave correctly. "Well, the children aren't any bother in the trailer park...why can't these snobby air travel folks get used to them, too?" Pullllease! I'm just glad everyone was fairly clean and had shoes on their feet for the flight. And as far as autism and cerebral palsy are concerned.....how would anyone know? These folks are so in-bred it might just be natural behavior!
Rosie's Controversial 'View' {AOL Video Blog}
Apr 2nd 2007 9:02AM For heaven's sake, people! Could we all stop, already? Whether steel melts at x degrees, buildings collapse of their own accord, the government is corrupt or innocent, or Rosie's a "bitchy" lesbian, this war (and every war we've ever fought, throughout history) is about OUR freedom (or that of our reluctant protectorates). Why folks get so riled up over Rosie is incomprehensible to me. Whether each of us agrees with/likes her or not, she has a clear right to say what she thinks, and there are plenty of viewers out there who believe as she does. She is NOT dangerous, she's simply outspoken and insensitive. And, so long as the O'Reillys and Limbaughs and Hasselbecks and Winfreys of America can have their say, so then can she. It's what we AMERICANS believe, isn't it?
The $135,000 Entryway {Luxist}
Mar 26th 2007 9:21AM What a beautiful antique! Still disturbing to know that someone could be spending as much on an entranceway as I've spent for my entire house!
And, BTW, I know and LOVE and have shopped Architectural Artifacts, Inc. for years. If ever you need any kind of antiques or architectural appointments, they can't be beaten. They're also very willing to find exactly what you're looking for.

Aug 24th 2006 7:36PM Confidential to Miranda:
"...What if the baby turns out to be homosexual...?" Oh, Lord! HORRORS! What, have the right-wing Christian fundamentalists decided homosexuality is the second worst thing that can happen to a child, after physical/mental handicaps? How ignorant! You might choose the sex of a child with this kit, but you'll never choose its sexuality. If you think you can't love a homosexual, just try NOT to love your homosexual child. I'm a very proud and very happy gay man, and my partner and I would adopt any baby out there, regardless of her/his SEX or SEXUALITY.
A great use for summer tomatoes {Slashfood}
Aug 11th 2006 3:21PM Char -- any sauce can be frozen, and I do it all the time. When it is defrosted it will get a little watery. Cheat, and throw in a can of tomato sauce or tomato paste....and if all else fails, throw in some Italian style breadcrumbs to absorb the extra water -- DON'T stir, so that you can spoon out most of the wet breadcrumbs. Contact me at musicccu@aol.com if you want my recipe for sauce. Good luck!
