One in four travelers smuggle liquids through TSA checkpoints {Gadling}

Oct 31st 2011 5:42PM Huhn? 3-1-1 for CHECKED luggage? This is a travel blog, no? From http://www.tsa.gov/311/ "3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage."

Count me as one in five. Flying out of CLE a 100ml toothpaste was confiscated. The "officer" could not be bothered to convert ml to fl.oz not did he understand that the rule was really 3.4-1-1.

Photo of the day - Montreal smoked meat {Gadling}

Oct 21st 2011 7:20PM That is the WORST picture of smoked meat I have seen! There is NO WAY Schwartz would serve a turd like that in the picture.

People, just do a Google image search for Schwartz Deli Montreal. Once you have done that, book a flight to YUL and come and have a sandwich or two. If you are here during the week, you NEED to hit up Wilensky's on Fairmont.

FIA confirms 2012 Formula 1 calendar, United States GP set for November 18 {Autoblog Canada}

Sep 1st 2011 11:24AM I thought the U.S. G.P. being moved to later in the year was a good idea. But a week before Thanksgiving? That might be a tough sell.

For those not in the know, U.S. Thanksgiving will be Nov 24 2012. People usually take the Friday off also and travel home. Thanksgiving is the biggest travel day in the U.S. and the holiday is seen by some as more important than Christmas, in terms of needing to travel "back home".

Getting extra time-off to go to Austin, with the travel expense etc. might be a bit much to ask.

I still wish all the best for the G.P.

It's a shame that Turkey was shot. Great track, but attendance was awful.

Nice to see Australia and Brazil bookending the season, with my home race, Montreal following Monaco.

Anyone in the ocean shipping industry know if there is enough time to pack up in Abu Dhabi and ship it to Brazil? (stands, pit stuff, etc. not cars)

Canadians not so confident about reversing... or changing lanes {Autoblog Canada}

Jul 11th 2011 6:25PM OK, so that means that 51% of women and 24% of men should have their license revoked. I consult at many "heavy manufacturers" (mining, etc.) and reverse parking is required. It is safer to reverse-in park. Backing out, more often than not, you have not inspected what is going on "behind" the vehicle. There may be new obstacles directly behind you (bikes, toys, etc.) or around you (pedestrians on side-walks, cyclists, etc.

When backing-in you are going from a more chaotic environment to a lesser one (fewer people, objects, etc.), while when backing out vice-versa. If you are going to limit your visibility might as well do it when going in to a less chaotic environment. Add to that that back-up cameras are probably better suited to narrow angle shots, like driveways, etc.

As for the lane-change thing..... If they are so scared to do lane changes, how the hell do the find a way to make it all the way to the left lane? Another 33% to get revoked.

Great work!

FAA orders removal of all airplane bathroom oxygen masks {Gadling}

Mar 10th 2011 2:32PM You may not need to get back to your seat. Most installations have an extra mask every row or two. This allows crew to monkey-swing down the isle if they need to. Saw this in "action" on the Mayday episode detailing the Helios airlines slow decompression and crash.
