EXCLUSIVE: Fine English Company Founder Benedict Wormald's Ten Essential Luxuries {Luxist}
Mar 12th 2010 9:44AM Many thanks Deborah for those kind comments. You have hit the nail right on the head (pardon the pun); one of the dominant reasons that I started the Fine English Company was to preserve diminishing skills for future generations to enjoy. We live in a generation where ambitions extend as far as talent competitions, the lottery or sports stardom- there are no solid mentors and quality apprenticed schemes. To walk around the Holland & Holland factory in North London is more fascinating than any Alice in Wonderland 3D creation! We as an organisation are reaching out to as many raw talents as we can at this stage, nurturing, and investing in them for the future. People ask me "What happens if key people leave and take your skill base"- this is precisely my point, we will have succeeded and opened the door for another hungry talent.......
I had accumulated a huge contact book of amazing people in my City years- people whose skills I long since believed to have perished with time but they are quietly plying their trade to little acclaim- we aim to change that. I am always available to anyone who wants to discuss projects or training, as are most of the great British Brands- I know that Dunhill Holland & Holland, Swaine Adeney Brigg, Aston Martin, Bentley and Savile Row have all expressed an interest in working together in the future so this is gathering pace. We are working towards a 'Best of British Bespoke" event to take these people on tour to meet and greet the new customer. Do keep in touch and do keep up the good work- Best regards, Benedict- Fine English Company

Dec 14th 2009 9:04AM This is fantastic stuff- any company who actually manufactures fully by hand should bring customers in to help them understand what hand made truly entails! Bravo.....
