Elvis Is Everywhere: Tributes for The King's 74th Birthday {Digital City Blog}

Jan 7th 2009 2:29PM As we say here in Ireland, "Elvis is deadly!", meaning he is really cool.

It was that beautiful and amazingly versatile voice of his that had the whole world enraptured.

His birthplace Tupelo Mississippi will also be having an Elvis event. We are all invited to Elvis's birthday, no matter where we live! Thankyouverymuch.

Jeffrey Wright Talks 'Cadillac Records' {Blackvoices Main}

Dec 2nd 2008 2:11PM Elvis Presley always acknowledged his debt to black musicians. The Title King of Rock 'n' Roll did Elvis no favours it marginalised him to a certain extent. Elvis Loved singing Gospel music and ballads too. Because of Elvis and Bill Haley a lot of us on this side of the Atlantic (Europe) heard about, and learnt to appreciate Muddy Waters,Chuck Berry,Little Richard, Fats Domino, The Platters, etc., etc.

I met Domingo Samudio, (Sam the Sham) in Memphis... a lovely guy! We laughed and joked good naturedly about Elvis, in the Blue light Studio.

Potent Quotables: Chris Brown on Elvis' Moves {Spinner}

Dec 5th 2007 10:30AM Ah Yes the ol' Elvis stole black stuff ploy.

Just as African-Americans stole step dancing from the Irish?

Just as the great Ludwig Van Beethoven stole an Irish air for the Finale of his magnificent 7th Symphony?
It's just all so amusing :-)
No race or nation owns music or dance. They cannot be stolen, they can only be shared.

Boy did Elvis share! The whole world got a piece of his action.

Paul McCartney Puts 'Memory' in His Own Words - Part Two {Spinner}

Online Petition Demands Arrest of Dakota Fanning's Mother and Agent {Cinematical}

Jan 26th 2007 1:39PM It's a movie. Dakota Fanning is acting.

Feeding the flames will keep the media fire burning ensuring the movie "HoundDog" will sell as well as "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley which sold many millions of copies.
Perhaps a percentage of the huge profits to be made from the box office and DVD sales of the movie should go to help protect children in the care of the social services?

Sundance Review: Hounddog {Cinematical}

Jan 25th 2007 2:14PM Southerner and father of Elvis the most famous entertainer the world has ever seen, Vernon Presley, said, "We were poor, but we were never 'white trash'.
How Kim Voynar can use the 'white trash term so freely is rather disconcerting. Surely like the n-word the term should have been washed from the mouths of all Americans.
Anyone who has travelled the southern states such as Mississippi has seen the 'third world' existing in today in the USA.

The movie "To Kill A Mocking Bird" starring Gregory Peck gave the world a taste of the region and the subject matter of "HoundDog".

It appears the only saving grace for this movie is the unique voice of Elvis Presley, and the knowledge Dakota Fanning will surely be catapulted into the major league as a seasoned actress.
After all she had already endured Aliens, in "War of the Worlds". The present war of the words concerning will be childsplay for her.
At least the serious subject matter of child rape will get immense coverage now. In that case the movie may just rise a little above it's cliches.

Elvis Presley, The Untold Years, To Roll {Cinematical}

Jan 24th 2007 4:49PM The story of Elvis Presley's romance with Elisabeth Stefaniak was featured in "The Sunday Times", a UK newspaper a year or so ago.
It's amazing how schmelvisers coverage of Elvis in the press hardly ever comment on his astoundingly beautiful and versatile voice. After all that is what the man is rightfully famous for.
Nevertheless it is refreshing to see his US Army service acknowledged.
Especially considering the upcoming 30th Anniversary commemorations to take place in Memphis this summer.

Even Elvis's birthplace Tupelo Mississippi is expecting record numbers of Elvis fans.

The movies are sure to renew interest in the great entertainer's fantastic music. Where Elvis at his best, is incomparable. That's why we are here.

Plans for a Cirque du Soleil Elvis Spectacular in Vegas Appear to Have Collapsed {Vegas Popular Blog}

Jan 22nd 2007 2:00PM The late and sadly missed Elvis Presley continues his amazing career in the international press. Mr Sillerman knew he was on a winner right from the day yours truly called Elvis, "The King of Commerce".
Las Vegas knew Elvis in 1956 just a little, then bigtime in the 70s.
Now in 2007 the Circus, continues and the world's most versatile vocalist may still fill the music desert with beautiful song?

You can bet on it!
