Apr 1st 2010 5:25PM This whole story is so fishy. Her son is a SENIOR in high school and all of a sudden she has to go up and "discuss" what goes on in detention? He was given a HOUR of detention because he broke the rule...not a YEAR!!! Why the heck is she at the school fighting with them? This is why kids are lost in the real world. The kid was wrong. The mother should have supported the school. Instead she went up ranting and raving about detention procedure and how sitting still for an hour creates angry children. This kid is never going to grow up. What's he going to do next year in college...call mommy if he perceives he's being treated unfairly.
By the way...that's why it's called DETENTION...not "after school homework/computer/play" period. Sitting still for an hour wouldn't kill the kid. It might even teach him to respect the rules...a concept his mother never shared with him.
(I'd bet anything she did call the principal a Nazi.)
And, even if the kid inadvertently broke the rule...that's life. If you're inadvertently speeding on the highway and you get a ticket, you suck it up and move on.
The school administration was problem so sick of this big mouth making trouble, they banned her. You can't just give someone a $50 fine for saying something you think is inappropriate. She was out of control and they fined her.....good for them.

Money College: One student's losing battle with private student loans {WalletPop}
Feb 26th 2010 4:15PM First of all, there were student loans before 1984. I went to college in the 70's and I had student loans.
As for this girl, $43,000 for a college education doesn't seem like an unreasonable amount. 9.5% interest on a studen loan is crazy. They're just taking advantage of her.
Evan...you should thank God that he gave you the brains to become a civil engineer and a chance at a nice life. You may think you're working your ass off but, you're not. You have a nice job and a nice life. The people that clean your office building when you go home at night work their asses off. I hope you're young and will learn someday.
As for the government bailing this girl out...I don't think it would be over-the-top for the gov't to make Sallie Mae knock their interest rate down to a reasonable amount.
When you make loans impossible to pay back, you force people to default. That's bad for everyone.
And for the "pay as you go" idea...what are kids supposed to do, get a job at McDonald's while their friends go off to school. A graduate degree is one thing...a college degree should be available to everyone.

Jan 6th 2010 7:04PM 35 years old..with a 21 year old? She had a baby at 14??? She's been raising babies since she was a child. I guess she doesn't know any other way of life.
When her 3 year old turns 18 - in 15 years, she'll only be 50. She needed another child down the line to keep receiving welfare.
CVS settled with her, the hospital will too..Look at the bright side...when the hospital pays her a few million, her welfare will be cut off. Taxpayers will be off the hook. Of course, we'll all pay in the long run. And...she'll still get to keep have whatever child support she's getting.
I'll bet the babies' daddies will suddenly want joint custody -- to get a piece of the pie.
P.S. To those of you answering the idiot that said you can't love your children if their father isn't around -- please ignore the jerk!
