Jun 12th 2008 5:21PM The fake wood on the hood is genius.
I'm still waiting for American car companies to re-introduce vinyl wood accents. To go along with the non-functional fender vents.

Jun 12th 2008 5:07PM So we're are getting a sequel on a movie about a Camaro before the Camaro will even available?
I wonder if the Camaro will actually be available by the time Transformers 3 hits.
I don't think I've ever seen so much press and hype about something that doesn't exist.
Duke Nukem' Forever redux.
I'm already bored with the Camaro design. I can only imagine how I'll feel in 2-3 years when they are actually on the market. Seriously, SIX years of teaser photos?
The Camaro will need a mid-cycle refresh immediately after production starts.

Jun 6th 2008 9:30PM People out here in so. Cal are freaking retarded when it comes to crossing the street. They just start walking, assuming that a) the driver sees them and b) the driver will be able to bring that 1.5+ ton vehicle to a stop in time. And of course, they give a dirty look if your panic stop comes within 20 feet of them.
I've never seen such stupidity.
I get that pedestrians have the right of way. But when I'm a pedestrian, why in the world would I put my life in the hands of some random person that might be on the phone, about to drop a drink in their lap, looking at the radio, or some other distracting thing?
What ever happened to common sense? Or, barring that, teaching people to look both ways before crossing? wtf.
Police break up Bugatti vs. Ferrari street race in UK {Autoblog}
Jun 4th 2008 8:43PM Well, of course. You can never outrun a radio.
I forgot to mention that that stretch of highway is very lightly patrolled.
I don't think I've ever seen more than 3-4 police cars on a 200 mile stretch. And when I saw those, they were usually bunched around some accident. Usually it is more like one or two during the whole drive, and almost never sitting in a speed trap situation. So maybe there is one patrol car covering 50-100 miles of highway.
I also think they are generally there for safety reasons, not revenue generation. I rarely see someone get pulled over for speeding. Which is how it should be.
I have been spotted by police occasionally. One did shine his spotlight on my car, apparently satisfied when I braked.
Just to clarify, I don't think this applies generally. I just had the thought, after reading this article, that on I-15, much like, say, Montana, they don't have the manpower for or interest in catching speeders on desolate stretches of road. Besides, consider that most cars are going 80-90 anyway. 100 isn't radically faster...

Jun 4th 2008 6:13PM I hope they lose that awful LCD in a cave thing in the middle of the dash.
I'm all for the canted center stack. Pure BMW.
So, what's a whit look like, besides mineral-y?

Jun 4th 2008 6:01PM I was going to comment on the British using a BMW for chase...
Then it made me think maybe that's the reason why I don't get tickets going from L.A. to Vegas. If I blow by a standing police car at 110, it would take them quite awhile to catch up, if they even could, considering the top speed of a crown vic.
Then again, I could just be lucky :)

May 29th 2008 3:42PM I have a 4.2 Audi.
Love the engine.
Hate the fuel economy. It was fine when gas was 2.50/gallon. Not so much now.
I was planning on getting a A5/S5 with a diesel. But a supercharged 6 works too.
BMW to raise prices by 1% to counter weak dollar {Autoblog}
May 28th 2008 3:41PM Oh, I don't know about that. Audi in that past has typically priced about 5% lower than a BMW, which is typically priced about 5% lower than a Mercedes.
Audi is usually considered somewhat of a bargain compared to the other German marques.
And hmm, Yacoub... Egyptian?

May 28th 2008 3:33PM This is true. Mercedes did exactly the same thing in the 1970's.
The S-class at one point was priced very similarly to a Cadillac or Lincoln. Then with inflation and exchange rates, the S class became far more expensive, virtually overnight.
And Mercedes has pretty much kept that price disparity ever since. And I don't think it has hurt them all that much...
