8-Year-Old Painting Prodigy Racks Up $250K in Art Sales {ParentDish}
Oct 14th 2010 7:01PM
This 8 year old Artist is doubly blessed having parents who are
capable of understanding and "valuing" their daughter's artistic
expression ! Thereby able and "willing" to support her gift with appreciation !
This talent is so life enriching to the little artist, to her wonderful folks, and
all the rest of us who will enjoy her interesting paintings!
Unfortunately, children can be dissuaded by unappreciative &
unknowledgeable adults possibly in their environment at home,or
at school, or poor choice of friends, or their community's--culture...
The other sad part to gifts of special skills/talents- is that we are often deprived
of their artistic expressions that would have been appreciated by the rest
of us.
Princess Diana's Black Ballgown Up For Sale {Luxist}
May 31st 2010 6:14PM
Princess Diana's elegant and graceful ability to carry and wear these clothes contributed to the clothes' designs and beauty. Who claimed ownership to her
clothes?
Who will actually benefit from the sale of these artfully crafted designer clothes?
Will Diana's charities benefit?
I am surprised that these clothes have not been claimed by UK Musuems.
Teens More Stressed Now Than During Great Depression {ParentDish}
May 13th 2010 4:14AM
SKL- the first contributor to this Comment List gave a superb
analysis , targetting many of the key elements in
in present day changes in thinking and behaviors.
The stresses of daily life csn't be compared even to 20 years
earlier.
Today, demands upon us are very "fast moving"/more exacting on our time and health , almost gone is the
friendly, easy human interaction and communication. Cities and
and buildings we live in are "anonymous environments". Our
neighbors change like musical chair games... It does take a
neighborhood to raise children and to reinforce social values.
Behaviors, communication ,what to think are dictated and
modeled by the advertisers, manufacturers ,radio talk shows TV shows, films, malls.
The misguided sense of entitlement with demands on others, to
dump on others with impunity all guided by a false sense of
anonymity, selfishness/dishonesty, watering down of civil
communication and the constant bombardment of news and
shows with violence and aggression on TV, films, Newspapers,
provide confusing input to the stressed teens and older.
The home and teachers lack significant influence which now
comes from outside sources.
Classrooms are overcrowded, teachers lack time
relating to the students on an individual basis.
It appears as the world is in a social Limbo. It stresses!
Even most of the popular music and words are harsh/shrill -no
melody. Even Mickey Mouse is being modified to be more
aggressive!
Change is life, and out of this chaos eventually
may spring a new set of patterns with civilized purpose, reason ,
accountability , mindfulness- respect for ourselves and the rights
and liberty of others. Hopefully there will be a renewal of the
popular arts and music to include the beauty of tone, melody,
gentleness.
Choose the Perfect Wedding Attire for Any Wedding {Shopping Articles Blog}
Apr 14th 2010 2:24PM To Jalapeno,
I am so sorry for your hurtful experience, especially at such a significant event!
It was your SPECIAL DAY and their behavior was boorish, disrespectful and
uncaring . In big cities there is a stricter etiquette and dress code. Different age groups and
cultures have different perspectives on formality, and/or informality .
There are different possible causes for this behavior. Do you know them well?
1- Perhaps they were in a situation beforehand not having time to dress appropriately, but they should have warned you first, and asked you if it is OK to appear this way.
2- Could it be an issue of money ? not having a job,etc.and didn't want to miss your special event. They should have checked with your wife..as it is her sister .
3- Do you know these folks well? They may not know any better...
4- Does your wife and her family get along? What made you invite them?
5- Did your Wedding Invitations provide enough information to clue guests what not to do.?
6- Before you ever invite them again be sure you know "who they are and what you may expect from them"
'Pretty Woman' Turns 20 {Moviefone Blog}
Mar 24th 2010 1:39AM re: Oscar winnings followed by marriage failure ...I think is a "coincidence in timing"with the public announcement of these relationship disasters .
The past Oscar winners'break-ups were "preceeded by a long string of
persisting troubles" which coincidentally came to a head unrelated
to the influence of an Oscar.
Using Freudian cliches of the "male ego" " bruised by
his wife's success" is not what the Bullock- James break up is all about.
The news channels are trumpeting particulars of James" long standing
affair with a tattoed woman" who now came forth with her well timed
publicity -seeking announcement of having a deep relationship over
the past 11 months and is not willing to let go! I doubt that the
OSCAR triggered this mess! I am so sorry for Bullock's
painful shock .
Tuesday Travel Trivia (Week 64) {Gadling}
Feb 27th 2010 6:45PM This is a fun and educational website! It triggers the impetus to find out more about those faraway regions and their interesting histories...especially geography and people...and then perhaps to visit .
I agree with the quote by St Augustine in this trivia quiz..that to know the world you need to visit and experience at first hand, not just read a page about it.
Real-Life Garfield Only Eats Lasagna {Lemondrop}

Question Alexandria's note on her cat Garfield.....
Is your comment meant to be a creation of a Haiku poem?
I hope it is your poem and truly is fiction. Otherwise your uncaring attitude and cruel behavior towards a little,living being by abandoning it to your neighbor's yard , does not speak well of who you are. //
