iPhoto '11 updated, still not up to par {TUAW.com}
Nov 5th 2010 5:13PM iPhoto 9.0 worked fine for me. However neither 9.0.1 or 9.1 work at all. I have deleted the app, reinstalled it, upgraded it, deleted preferences, deleted my photo library from the computer and with both 9.0.1 and 9.1 the app just hangs. I get the Application is not Responding message and see it is using a consistent 40%-70% of the CPU but nothing happens, even after leaving it like that overnight.
Been using iPhoto since it was first released. This is the first time I have had a problem and its proving to be a doozy. Not a quality release from Apple.

You can't always trust Drobo Dashboard {TUAW.com}
Mar 17th 2010 12:35PM You can see the post on my problems below. I think it is good they are "dissing the company" on here. They have significant issues with their products and no device at this level should just disconnect while being accessed. People need to know Drobo are not as reliable as they think they are. Before they lose data.
You can't always trust Drobo Dashboard {TUAW.com}
Mar 17th 2010 12:33PM Drobo... I no longer trust them.
I have 3 drobos. An original USB, the Firewire model and now a pro. The pro is billed as a Business Class machine. But it isnt.
I had similar connection dropping at this article. In my case the issue was some Seagate 7200.11 drives with bad SD15 firmware. The drobo pro would disconnect while I was reading and writing to it to restart and try and get one of the drives to start up or something. I looked at the drobo and the lights were green. I looked in dashboard and the drives were listed as all being fine too.
This happened over a weekend. I had to wait till monday morning to send in my encrypted log file (log files should not be encrypted) to find out what is up. I found out from support that the drobo new a drive was having a problem and did this restarting.
Now, to me, a business class device should not just go down like that. It should have reported that a drive was questionable when I looked in the dashboard and given me the option to replace the drive (it is hot swappable after all)
Shortly after this I had problems with the firewire cable. The support person I talked to this time was rather snarky and rude.
Now I am on my third issue. My "drive pack" which is the collection of disks that the drobo has is fubarred. It keeps asking me to put in newer and bigger disks because otherwise it can not protect my data. Even though I have added enough new drives to have 3TB of extra space in single disk redundancy mode. The Tier 2 support person helpfully suggested: "To fix your issue please copy all the data off the Drobo temporarily, next pin-reset your Drobo with the drives still in it (which will delete all data on the drive pack), then please format your Drobo, lastly please copy your data back to the Drobo."
Now, I do have a backup of all the data, because I have learned to never trust any drive but doing this will take at least a week (probably twice that) to copy all 3 TB of files off and back on the device. And to reiterate, they sell this as a business class product. The whole point in spending the extra money on it is so I would not have to deal with issues like this. 1-2 weeks of downtime while files are moved about is going to cost me a lot in missed work time.
So I balked at the Tier 2 suggestion and got bumped to Tier 3. Very helpful person at this level and I am waiting to hear back on other possible solutions.

Mar 1st 2010 5:02PM What happened to the TuneFlex AUX? When I go to the link above the product now is different from what was there when this post went up. What is there now even has a best of ilounge 09 badge on it.
Did Griffin decide to stop making what they just released? It looked so much nicer than this.

Feb 10th 2010 2:18AM I would use one to set my dad up with a better signal from the harbor, as he lives on a boat. Hard to get a cable run to it and wifi currently isnt giving a reliable connection.
So, the problem this would solve is his continuously asking me if there is any way to get a better connection.
BetterTouchTool makes multi-touch infinitely more useful, for free {TUAW.com}
Jan 5th 2010 7:24PM @Andreas, thanks for the response. I disabled 4 finger swipes in the trackpad preference. But when I go to BetterTouch and click on the list of actions I only see 4 finger swipe up and down. No left and right. What am I missing?
