Topsy Turvy Planter review: Tomatoes can grow upside down {WalletPop}

Aug 24th 2010 4:44PM Amen and amen! First attempt with two, one died so I replaced it. Don't kid yourself, These things take a LOT of maintenance -- gotta keep watering and fertiizing. Don;'t hae time for that -- then don't do it. Well my "Big Boy" and "Better Boy" tomatoes never got beyond golf ball size. I ended up putting a regular plant in the ground and I'm getting regular tomatoes already. I cut the Topsy Turvy ones down yesterday after about $70 for the topsy turvy planters, tomato plants, hangers, fertilizer, garden soil, and heavens knows how much water, and I got about 2 ripe golf ball size tomatoes I could actually eat, and that's it.. Coulda bought a LOT ot tomatoes for that. Use your money and time for something else.

Travel Fashion No-No's {AOL Travel News}

Jun 2nd 2010 12:08AM I've been to Europe a couple dozen times, and enjoy "independent travel" -- after business done, rent a car and just go, staying in bed and breakfast places or small hotels, often without reservations. Get to meet some wonderful people.

I like Samantha Brown's show, as I do Rick Steves, and others, but often disagree with some of their suggestions. And I can't afford most of the hotels Samantha stays in (for free, I would think), but most of her advice is good.

I wear casual clothes, mostly darker colors, and black sneakers as I need the support and comfort of sneakers. OTOH, I see a lot of whte and grey sneakers on local folks and in store windows.

Be yourself, learn a few phrases of the local language, smile, and be friendly -- you get what you give.

Go, relax, have fun.

Sarah Palin's Luxe Speaking Contract Spurs Investigation in California {Politics Daily}

Apr 14th 2010 10:58AM Obviously you don't like Sarah Palin.I think we get that. But, the fact remains, her conditions are pretty standard stuff, mild by most accounts. Lose the hatred.

Sarah Palin's Luxe Speaking Contract Spurs Investigation in California {Politics Daily}

Apr 14th 2010 10:52AM So? This is pretty standard terms for nationally recognized speakers. Ask Clinton. Ask Colin Powell. Ask any of them, you'll find similar terms. It may be above our income level, but that's the way it is with well known folk. Want one of them to speak? Be prepared to pay out. Whether you like Palin or not, what she is doing is not unusual and is probably middle of pack to higher end of speakers in her category (didn't Clinton get 2 million for a speech in Japan - and he didn't fly coach?). Is she worth it? Are any of the high paid talking heads worth it? Probably not, but groups gladly pay it to get recognition. Ever heard of the Stanislaus Foundation?

Insurance Nightmare: Why We Need a Better System {Politics Daily}

Feb 25th 2010 4:33PM Sadly, my son is going through the same thing for his wife. She has malignant melanoma colo-rectal cancer and in the quest for insurance approval even had one person at the insurance company say the request was for CANCER treatment and she didn't have that -- he explained that a malignant melanoma IS cancer -- DUH!!! After appeal, they got coverage many weeks later.

Now, new tumors have been discovered, again malignant melanoma, and she is trying to get into an experimental program sponsored by a drug company with the NIH -- SAME problem with insurance co, and he again appealing -- in meantime, the cancer continues to grow.expand.

Pathetic.

What Is Behind Kevin Eubanks' Split From Jay Leno? {PopEater}

Feb 17th 2010 3:18PM Totally agree. The Tonight Show has given several folks their kick up the ladder - Eubanks was one. Eubanks never impressed me. Marsalis did. I am quite sure there is a GREAT bandleader out there who will jump at the chance.

But why dis on Leno? Piling on when it wasn't Leno's doings. Blame fumbling NBC executives. Whoever will be the bandleader will likely be remembered longer than Eubanks on his own.

Conan O'Brien: Divorce from NBC is Ugly and "Crazy Expensive" {Luxist}

Jan 22nd 2010 2:52PM Just what the hell has NBC done to him and his staff. The Tonight show, the move to LA (you can believe they all got good packages to move), seven months only to have him tank the Tonight show ratings (he's just NOT that good), and now upwards of 45 million to shut him up and make him go away. While it is reported he got 30 mil and his staff 12 mil, if he was so concerned about them, as he said, why didn't he give them some of his 30 mil?

I'm sick of him not taking any responsibility for his failure, and that is what it was -- Leno's too but he is the better of the two and had the TS as #1 for many years.

Go back to NY, stay in LA, go to Fox, wherever, but any respect I had for O'Brien is now gone.

Obamas Choose "Avant-Garde" Art for the White House {Shelterpop}

Oct 9th 2009 10:26AM Like some, confused (why there?) by others -- but that's the way it is for much modern art for me.

Massucci's Take: Jon & Kate is about money, not love {Daily Finance}

Sep 30th 2009 3:01PM I am so %#$&^#@&%#&# tired of hearing of Jon and Kate. I don't watch them on TV nor do I read the aol articles. Just tired of seeing them on virutally every day. Who cares about this dysfunctional couple -- doing it for the money, anyway???
