Jun 23rd 2007 1:33PM American reviewers and American audiences tend to want everything in a movie neatly packaged and tied in a bow. I found this movie to be so gripping, so emotional, so very non-Disneyized that I wanted to grab the director and hug him and thank him for making a movie that obviously assumed that some people can actually stick with a bucking bronco of a film. I loved having to use my brain to figure some things out. In fact, this movie is directed in exactly the same way our brains work - disorganized thoughts triggered by incoming sensations. This is a film for mature minds, smart people, and avid filmgoers. Marion Cotillard possesses the role and anyone wanting to choose acting as a career needs to see this film, this performance. This is what phenomenal acting looks like.
