Worst Airbrushed Celebs of 2007 ... So Far {Switched}
Sep 5th 2007 12:03AM This is nothing new. I remember a family member who was a graphic artist telling me that they airbrushed the model's thighs when they looked too "heavy". This was over 20 years ago. I thought he was putting me on-Obviously not ;-). I wonder how long this has been going on-when did it first start?
The techniques have just gotten more sophisticated and now you can change pretty much anything. Just my opinion-I thought Faith Hill looked better in the un Photoshopped picture. Less perfect, but prettier and more wholesome.
Bust Out of Your Makeup Rut {oldstylelist}
Aug 22nd 2007 11:28PM Some of the makeup tips are good. I am not in my 50's, 60's or 70's, but I don't understand why these women are invisible to makeup people. They seem to get stuck with "Exciting" Anti-Age Serums and Crow's feet fillers. Blech!
I feel badly for these women, because I would not wanted to be treated that way. Don't people know that most women want to look attractive at Any age? There is also a Market for it. These people have money and they are willing to pay. So, Step Up To The Plate-Makeup Creaters/Advisors.
If it were me, I'd be one Irate Senior. Grrr ;-) It's depressing that you (and I don't just mean just this blog) offer nothing good or fun for older women. I think they deserve better. A Whole Lot Better.
Lindsay Lohan's Luxurious Utah Rehab {Luxist}
Aug 12th 2007 1:44AM It isn't going to work unless she wants to get clean and stay clean. If this is another luxury spa where they don't want to inconvenience rich people with Recovery, it won't work. The 12-Steps and Counseling and basic changes need to be emphasized, not put on the side, like something you can do If you feel like it.
No amount of pretty scenery, Jacuzzis, etc. will help Ms. Lohan or anyone else. It will just make the people who own these places richer.
Recovery Is hard work and if this is just another Spa...I think she'll end up relapsing. Recovery shouldn't be hell, but it's not supposed to be a day at the beach either. I wish her and anyone suffering from addiction well. I really hope she doesn't end up relapsing and killing herself or someone else in the process. Time to Get Serious.
The Sweatiest Cities in America {Gadling}
Jul 5th 2007 1:13AM Florida should be mentioned. Our air is like a walking through heavy water from June till November. Good for winter and the beaches are beautiful, but only go on them in the summer if you want to become cozy with the paramedics ;-). Okay, we get a little breeze in June, but by July it is Totally gone, unless a hurricane is coming. Also, I'm curious as to why New Orleans or Mississippi isn't mentioned? There are plenty of "Fun Cities" for the summer ;-). Thank God for Central Air, fans, AC in cars and Please keep it going. I promise not to complain anymore, but Please-No More Hurricanes.
Wal-Mart markets "back to college" condoms {ParentDish}
Jun 18th 2007 6:20PM Walmart already sells condoms, as well as many other items. This ad is clearly a prank, or a way for Walmart to make even more money. Now, Why do I think that Sam Walton is revolving in his grave? ;-)
Paris Hilton Calls Barbara Walters {AOL Video Blog}
Jun 12th 2007 5:49AM Time will tell, people can change if they really want to ; and if she does change in certain ways she can do a lot of good for herself and for others. I need mercy, so I need to extend it to others. Good luck Paris.
Surprises You'll Find in the New Oprah Book {This Just In}
May 26th 2007 1:29AM It doesn't make sense to me that Mr. Vernon Winfrey would trash his daughter. Oprah has frequently credited her father with instilling good values in her, taking her into his home and helping her turn her life around as young woman. Couldn't this book be something Good?
Perhaps Mr. Winfrey wants to offer some insight into his whole family and his ancestry. How He became the way he is and consequently how Oprah becomewho she is. Maybe he feels that he has valuable life lessons to pass along. Why does it neccessarily have to be something Bad? I do agree that Ms. Winfrey is entitled to her privacy.
Wal-Mart looking at smaller stores? {BloggingStocks}
May 10th 2007 12:48AM Walmart wants this to sound so "homey and friendly" doesn't it? I know a bunch of hard working people who are going to lose their jobs very soon because Walmart is taking over a "small space". This "small space" is Very large to all the Vendors who make their living there. They can't earn a living wage at Walmart's minimum wage, bad health insurance, bad treatment for workers. People better worry when Walmart decides to take over a "small space". It usually involves MANY stores and could be the store you are working or managing. Also this is going to cause some major traffic problems to an area that already has a ton of car wrecks. Walmart is famous for having drawing people who are in a Big Hurry, they think they are at the Indy 500. Walmart has Got to be stopped. They have No Mercy for Anybody. They are like something from the horror movie "The Blob"-Only TOO REAL.
The 25 Most Exquisitely Sad Songs in the Whole World: No. 9 {Spinner}
May 10th 2007 12:16AM Very important relevant song. Martina McBride has lent her beautiful voice to all kinds of songs, sad, happy and everything in between. This has to be her saddest. I am grateful to her for trying to open people's eyes to issues like child abuse; for not taking the safe path and singing "feel good" songs all the time.
The 25 Most Exquisitely Sad Songs in the Whole World: No. 12 {Spinner}
May 10th 2007 12:11AM Unfortunately I could not get the computer to play this one. I'm familar with some of Mr. Sinatra's work though. He is a totally irreplaceable, Amazingly Great Singer.
