Dec 1st 2012 12:52PM Maybe the family should have more than 1 smoke detector. My house has 9, 6 of which are on the upper bedroom level. I doubt all 6 would malfuction at once. They are hard wired so that when 1 goes off all 9 go off. They do have batteries and sometimes it takes a while to figure out which one is "chirping" for a new batery.

Hell, most of the times it was the loan officers that were encouraging the buyers to overstate income and generating the false income documents. 5 years in prison for something 80% of the people were doing is a bit harsh.

It was going to cost $40,000 and at the projected monthly savings of under $30, it would take almost 117 years to get back my $40,000, so I said SCREW that STUPID idea. And that didn't even include any repairs or maintenace costs over the course of the 117 years. A person would have to be a complete idiot to install a solar system.

Oct 25th 2011 12:14AM The banks have absolutely no reason to do a loan modification for anyone. There's no money in it for them. They make their money by foreclosing, then dumping the house on the market at a huge loss, then they demand that the gov't (FDIC) reimburse them 80% of the loss (based upon the original sale price). The banks make a ton of money, and it all comes from the taxpayers. The laws need to be changed to stop this practice. Oh, and the bank tries to stick the defaulting homeowner for the loss also. So they get double bucks, if the homeowner is stupid enough to fall for the scam. And then, along comes the friggin IRS and they say the banks loss is "income" for the defaulting homeowner. I think it's time for a real president. This experiment has failed.
