Chimney Rock Park {Luxist}

Aug 12th 2006 12:21PM This park is part of one of the most biodiverse ecological zones in the country.The gorge in which it is located has species native to low and high altitude,Canada and Florida due to steep north and south facing walls, and the confluence of mountain and piedmont. By last count it had over 20 state and federally listed rare and endangered species. It also serves as an engine for the local economy AS IT IS. Hopefully it can be saved and preserved. Hopefully the owners and the state of North Carolina will stay at the negotiation table.
