Aznom to unveil mid-engined Abarth 500 at Top Marques Monaco {Autoblog}
Apr 12th 2011 9:39AM 230 hp, rear engine, rear drive, four foot wheel base, how fast can you say ' HOLY SNAP OVERSTEER BATMAN!!' Now I have to ponder, should I buy the spiritual successor to the R5 or the new Stratos? Oh wait, I'm dirt poor. Never mind.
Report: China suspends Jeep Wrangler importation over safety concerns {Autoblog}
Apr 12th 2011 9:36AM They got just enough Wranglers in the country to disassemble them & give out the parts to various Chinese factories for reverse engineering. As soon as China has its knock-off Wrangler ready, they'll allow the Jeeps back in with a 400% tariff.
The 7 Biggest Mistakes Newbie Baby Namers Make {ParentDish}
Apr 11th 2011 8:21AM They forgot rule number 8. Putting pointless Y's in your child's name doesn't make it unique. It means they have to spell it every time they stand at the checkout counter, everyday, for their entire adult lives. Karyn, Camryn, Dylyn (no joke) and the worst I've come across, ready for this, Kaytylyn. Pronounce 'Kite-ill-in.' Get over it, it's not cute.
Demonstrations in Bahrain cause Grand Prix cancellation {Autoblog}
Feb 21st 2011 10:06PM I feel for the protesters. I know US state department loves 'stability.' I lean toward the 'liberty' side of it. If we live our values and allow other people to live values like ours, they win, we win. As for racing, I just feel like the season ought to start someplace as jubilant as Australia. I have nothing against Bahrain, but the season opening in such a buttoned-down society is a real let-down. Adelaide is a great big parade that the floats go really really fast. Beer, cute girls, loud engines.
Video: European cars on ice in snowy slow-motion plow pileup {Autoblog}
Dec 28th 2010 1:04AM If a little steering angle won't turn the truck, maybe applying full lock will convince it. At least the dude in the Audi (despite not even trying to lift off the brakes) had the foresight to get out before the plow came down....
Has The Flying Car Truly Arrived? {Translogic}
Jul 1st 2010 8:39AM I worked as an auto claims adjuster for 5 years. Most drivers can't seem to maintain control of their car when the only inputs are faster-slower, left-right. Do we really want them texting while they change altitude?
Is This 'Single Ladies' Video Too Hot for Tots? {ParentDish}
May 13th 2010 5:45PM A local radio station morning show had an informal poll regarding underage girls who have (usually provocative) words the backs of their tiny shorts. In a typical seven minute radio bit, they took calls from callers. Almost without exception, the men who called said 'ain't no way, no how, no excuse, girls should not be wearing clothes like this.' There were a few women who disagreed, but most of them talked about how 'cute' the shorts were & how they would want to wear them if they were nine. Who's the adult here? Most of these really young girls don't shop my themselves. Someone has the credit card or check book. I'm pretty confident that when you see girls dressed like this, it wasn't dad's idea.
Tattoo Regrets -- Lost in Translation {Asylum}
May 7th 2010 5:22PM NPR took a Chinese character specialist around UC-Berkley a few years ago. They found two people who had 'beef & broccoli' tatoos and one guy that had 'crazy diarrhea' on the back of this neck. It could be a lot worse than 'thief.'
Rumormill: Harley-Davidson considering move away from Milwaukee? {Autoblog}
May 4th 2010 8:24AM HDs have become such a commodity they will be making them in Mexico within our lifetime.
Yes, the unions are shooting themselves in the foot, but stop watching tv and grab some history books about life in America in 1900-1920. Child labor, 7 day work weeks, 16 hour work days, company towns, company currency. Anti-union? Pro child labor?
How to Tell if Your Child is a Bully {ParentDish}
Apr 2nd 2010 8:30AM My family ended an entire relationship with another family over the fact that their 6 year old would not stop bullying my 2 year old. They moved overseas and a sweet ex-patriot package, 2 million dollar house, maids, drivers, vacation to neat places every weekend. They outsourced parenting to their paid staff. Suddenly, bad behavior was someone else's problem. The sad thing is I see so many parents here in the states that act the same way. Their kids run around creating Holy terror, saying mean things, sometimes physically abusing other people, but the parents never seem to notice unless someone else brings it up.
