Hot Stat: Today's Homes Burn Faster Than Ever {AOL Real Estate}
Nov 9th 2011 6:12PM I cannot believe any sensible person would prefer granite countertops to a sprinkler system. It's totally ridiculous to see people on the home shows carry on over wanting granite countertops as if they are a mark of prestige. Personally, I wouldn't want to be bothered with taking care of them. The simpler the better as long as my counter tops are nice looking and of good quality. If a builder will give me sprinklers in my home plan I will take it. You probably would get a break on your insurance costs by having sprinklers.
Confederate Flag Gets South Carolina Neighbors Up in Arms {AOL Real Estate}
Sep 27th 2011 6:46PM Why are some people thinking that flying a Confederate flag is even necessary? What nuts they are. The flag means nothing except to purposely antagonize or upset certain people. The flag was a symbol of the rebels who lost the war so that should have been reason enough to not even fly the flag. We can see that people who want to keep the flag in sight are purposely antagonising others - the others are the sensible normal people who see no need to fly it. We have the beautiful American flag and that's the flag of our free country. I feel sorry for people who fly the flag because they apparently have nothing of importance in their lives so this is an outlet for them. Poor babies. I am glad they are not my bad neighbors. This is yet another example of showing their low class.
Thirty abandoned churches from around the world {Gadling}
Aug 8th 2011 4:04PM It's such a shame for buildings that still look to be salvageable to be destined for decay. Whenever I hear of a very rare instance of someone buying an old church and turning it into their home I do feel so happy and proud of them. Without knowing the reasons for all of these abandoned ones it's hard to say what should have or could have been done to save them. When congregations thin out there's not always enough money to keep a building safe and in good condition. Also, just one example, out of many, of a church being abandoned here is when the younger congregation decided they wanted a modern looking church - no pipe organ - the stained glass windows looked too reverent with their lovely images and the altar was too small for their 15 piece band. The lovely old church is practically held together by scaffolding used to keep it from losing it's exterior and - would you believe - the only time someone wants to use the church is for weddings because of the gorgeous carpet (and the stained glass windows) and the lovely old pews. So sad.
Sarah Ferguson: They 'Destroyed' Me Because I'm a Royal Ex Wife {PopEater}
Jul 5th 2011 9:15AM It seems that Sarah is keeping on carrying on her pity party altho she "acknowledges" that she was wrong in some things. Really? When you bad mouth your husband's family and English royalty then you are setting the stage for criticism. I agree that Sarah was certainly old enough to know what at least some decorum is expected when marrying into the British royalty. She didn't want to have to fit into a mold so she did her own thing. I have no sympathy for her whatsoever. Hopefully, she will stop trying to get admiration from everyone all over the world in telling her story and giving her apology. I wish her a good life but I still don't admire her because of all of her whining. If she gets enough publicity she can write a book and get on a few more TV shows.
Minute Makeover: Take Your Look From Cute to Sultry [Video] {Stylelist}
Jun 30th 2011 7:54AM What a great improvement here. More color was definitely needed, especially with her dark hair. For everyday she could use the eye makeup more sparingly and her eyes would stand out so much. I agree that a new hair style would be good - maybe she has naturally curly hair so that would be taken into account. But - please - no boring Vanna White straight hair. Ick.
Mildred Baena on Love Child: 'It Wasn't Arnie's Fault, It Takes Two' {PopEater}
Jun 15th 2011 12:52PM This woman said "she didn't always know that Arnold was the boy's father until he started resembling him" - it sure does sound like she was fooling around with someone else at the same time. Both she and Arnold are good for nothings in my book and a child is always the one who has to face having parents like this which they can't help having. The boy thinks it's cool that Arnold is his father - why not? He and his mother have been living good all this time so that's impressive big time I'm sure. Of course, only Maria can decide how much she cares about her husband and wants a future with him. Personally, I couldn't put up with it myself. I wish her all the best.
House of Worship: Katie Couric's Hamptons House {Shelterpop}
Jun 8th 2011 11:10AM I did fail to mention that I was taken aback with the title of this article - it's the choice of the media I assume. "House of Worship"? Worshipping a house is a very chilling thought.
House of Worship: Katie Couric's Hamptons House {Shelterpop}
Jun 8th 2011 11:08AM I have never been a Katie fan so I won't say anything disparaging about her. However, ever since I heard that she was making (not earning, in my way of thinking) 5 or 6 millions dollars a year I have just been totally turned off by anything she says or does. She and other people in high profile news who have extravagant homes are the ones who have added to the impression to some poor countries that this is the way all Americans live. I'm not impressed.
Teacher Says She Doesn't Regret Punching Student in Face {ParentDish}
Jun 6th 2011 2:49PM This ornery brat deserved worse. A teacher should be respected unless he or she is truly unworthy of teaching. However, if they are not it should be brought to the attention of the principal. This fine lady expected this student to do as he was told as he was totally obnoxious and disrespectful of her authority. If she isn't given her job back it will probably be because the school will knuckle under to some one (or ones( who think this teacher should not defend herself. She does love to teach - has a good record - and I can Imagine the scare this incident gave her. Take this guy out of the school system and send him to a disciplinary camp of some kind. His parents should back her up.
'View' Source: Barbara Walters Would Take Meredith Vieira Back {PopEater}
Jun 3rd 2011 2:45PM If Meredith does go back on the show I hope she glamorizes herself a little more. She's rather plain looking to start with and especially in this picture she looks likes she's ready to play on the game show "Minute to Win It". She could replace Whoopee who was good acting in movies but not on a talk show. Ick. Maybe Meredith will perk up her own personality if she does go back on the show.
