Christina Aguilera Botches National Anthem at Super Bowl, Admits Mistake {PopEater}

Feb 6th 2011 9:15PM What the heck, Christina. You were hardly singing before the most elite crowd ever gathered. These are football fans, and if they expect or rate any shade of perfection, it's a brand new thing. Football is barely a click above mud wrestling, hog-calling and watermelon spitting contests.

The Tragedies and Triumphs of Actress Patricia Neal {PopEater}

Aug 10th 2010 2:03AM For sentimental, old time sake reasons it needs mentioning that Patricia Neal's acting career was launched on the stage of the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Virginia. Which, of course, that theater proudly and deservedly proclaims along with many other Broadway and Hollywood greats who started there.

Free McDonald's Real Fruit Smoothie promotion plans halted {WalletPop}

Jul 17th 2010 2:30PM Wow, whoever figured out this master marketing ploy will probably be McDonald's next vice president!

Riviera Hotel Files For Bankruptcy {Luxist}

Jul 14th 2010 11:48PM The surprise is not in the bankruptcy of the Riviera; the surprise and amazement is in the fact that most other casinos aren't in bankruptcy as well. Hard times are not wished upon anyone, but we gotta admit that hard times tend to sober us up, to make us just a wee bit smarter than we were before. Millions of casino goers are realizing that a large room full of bells, whistles, smoke and "free" drinks comes with a very high price. Also, that casino "gambling" isn't gambling at all. You don't win; you just donate your money just for the privilege of hearing bells and whistles. Who says we of humankind aren't evolving!

Megyn Kelly, Kirsten Powers Joust Over New Black Panther Civil Rights Case {BV Black Spin}

Jul 14th 2010 5:09PM I've never been accused of being a right-winger, and I hope this doesn't violate that record. However, equality is what this country is supposed to be all about. If we persist in discriminating against whites or disrespecting whites simply because of their color---hey, isn't that the problem we had in the 1860's, only a reverse of colors? There is a whole lot of anger in this country already over double standards and loud mouths, and it has almost doubled in the last few months. We've got to get hold of ourselves, or we are headed for major, major problems.

Paging Mulder and Scully to China {AOL Hot Searches}

Jul 13th 2010 5:29PM For those of you interested in the probability of intelligent alien life in the cosmos, go on the Internet to the very interesting Frank Drake Equation. It's not the last word in extraterrestrial intelligence, but it's an educated and intriguing start to an unending intelluctual adventure in UFO theories and possibilities.

Paging Mulder and Scully to China {AOL Hot Searches}

Jul 13th 2010 4:02PM I am almost through writing a book length treatise on UFOs and extraterrestrial intelligence. It is a serious work concentrating on the need to contact UFOs, the most convincing proof of advanced intelligence and our best possible potential for preserving our world and our species in a very dangerous cosmos. If an agent or publisher is interested, please contact me.

Lindsay Lohan's Plan to Stay Out of Jail {PopEater}

Jul 12th 2010 9:00PM Paint it good, or paint it bad. But the contradictive truth is, that in certain venues, bad choices and bad behavior do, in fact, pay handsomely. It's also no secret. Our value system is upside-down and sideways, but not one of us wants to leave this country, warts and all.

Compared to running out of money, fear of death is no biggie {WalletPop}

Jul 8th 2010 5:22PM The fear of death is imposed upon us by a well-meaning but ill-advised clergy, a leftover from Medieval times when they truly didn't know better. But why, pray tell, in the 21st Century are we still fed this claptrap? With all the other burdens facing humankind, of what possible benefit can it be to keep advancing this fear and stupidity as some kind of divine truth? I would guess that at least 95 percent of the clergy themselves don't believe in life after death, and certainly not in some kind of ever-burning hades.

Can Money Buy Happiness? It Depends How You Define 'Happiness' {Asylum}

Jul 6th 2010 1:16AM You can buy some happiness for some time, but you can't buy excessive happiness for an excessive time. It's the "rung-up rule" that unavoidably applies. Each time you advance one more rung up the ladder of monetary success, you see the next rung up that you don't have. It's just another variation of Mazlow's hiearchy of desires. Or maybe the Economics 101 rule of diminishing returns might explain it better. Anyway, perfect happiness is unobtainable. The very word and concept of perfection is a human invention and myth. Have a great day.
