Apr 15th 2010 4:49PM You should contact whatever lawyer represented you at the closing (and I DO hope you had your own lawyer for it!!). That attorney should have a copy of all closing documents, including the mortgage loan documents. If he/she doesn't, they will know how to get them.
If you did not have your own attorney for the closing, then try the title company as mentioned above. And please... if you EVER sign any legal contract again (especially involving huge sums of money), fork over the money for your own attorney, and don't let anyone talk you out of it. It's the only protection you have.

Re: Lay-off letter from an excellent boss...

I sincerely hope you made that up and didn't actually recieve a letter like that. However, if you did, I would call that grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit. You can't be selected for a layoff or termination based on your political leanings any more than you can for your race, gender, religion, etc.
Time to call a lawyer!
Sony Pocket Reader: The Only e-Book Reader with a Price Drop! {Shopping Articles Blog}
Mar 23rd 2010 6:35PM I would never spend that much money to buy the e-reader just for pleasure reading. However, as a college student, if my textbooks were available electronically with the same kind of discount as you find for other electronic books, it would be well worth the investment. As it is, I average about $500 per semester for textbooks. If using an e-reader would cut the cost by even 50%, it would pay for itself in just one semester.

The fact that the conservative picked up 45% of the votes in the NY-23 speaks volumes. I fact it screams out grass roots. We need what this nation was founded on back. And the people are sick of Democrates and Democrate Light (Republicans). We want our Constitution respected and followed. We have a great Nation and need to fire the people who want to change it. Enough said!!!!!!!

So you want to go back to the days of slavery, massacres against Native Americans, no rights or protections for women & children, little to no public education, no mass transit or infrastructure, no utilities, and open borders? That is what our nation was "founded on", right?
Well, how about leading us in this return to "the founding" by moving your family out into the woods, finding a plot of unowned & unoccupied arable land, supporting your family from farming & hunting/fishing, making your own tools & clothes, and relying on nothing but your own ingenuity to survive? Show us how well that can work - but remember that you cannot rely on any source of power you don't build yourself, nor can you take advantage of any government services (there were none then) like Social Security, Medicare, public education, unemployment, police, etc.
If you survive a year like that, with your family still intact and not suffering - then come back and show the rest of us how much better it was back when America was founded.

Okay - you can start by giving up your car & home. Go find an empty plot of arable land and build yourself a log cabin. Support your family from farming & fishing, make your own clothes and tools, and don't rely on anything that requires gas, electricity, batteries or oil to run or produce.
Do you really, really want to go back there?

Maureen, There is nothing to brag about as Democrat. Its has been a bad night in both major races for governorships...People is sicken and tired to death by taxes and jobless economy. Obamacare and his Wall Street bailout only made federal deficits out of control...this is what drives this election cycle not Sarah palin or Obama...

I agree, to a point. What a lot of people fail to realize is that the biggest chunk of their tax dollars (not counting the FICA deductions, which come back to you when you retire) goes to their state - not the federal government.
Why are state taxes so high? We keep electing Republicans to Congress & the White House, who keep cutting the money they give to the states for things like Medicaid, transportation & education to pay for the tax cuts they give to the rich & their corporate allies. This forces the states into huge deficits, which can only be offset by raising your state taxes (income, sales, property, etc - and putting tolls on roads).
It's nothing but a shell game. If you really want it to stop, then you need to educate yourself on how things REALLY work, and then call your elected officials out when they try to sell you a snow job.

Nov 4th 2009 9:24AM The "lesson" all you Republicans should be taking from this is that if you want your candidate to have a snowball's chance of winning, put Palin & Limbaugh (and all the rest of the loudmouth windbags in your party) in a room with no doors or windows and tape their mouths shut. The minute those two start spewing their idiocy in support of any candidate, you've guaranteed that candidate will lose. Haven't you all figured out yet that part of the reason McCain lost by such a large margin last year was due to the extremely poor judgment he showed by picking Sarah "I can see Russia from my house, but I can't name the last newspaper I read" Palin for a running mate?
Oh, perhaps you will also learn to give at least a passing consideration to the people whom you wish to represent. If the "brains" behind this ridiculous plan had known anything about New Yorkers, they would have known that you cannot expect to win a local election there by telling the voters that their local issues are basically irrelevant because the GOP has a larger agenda.
By the way, contrary to what some Republicans would like us to think, most Americans are centrists - neither too far right or left. By trying to "purify" your party, all you are really doing is sending it so far to the extreme right that you are guaranteeing your own failure by making your party unpalatable to the average American.
But hey, that's just fine with me, since it means MY party will stay in power. Have a nice day :-D
Final October tally shows drop in consumer sentiment {Daily Finance}
Oct 30th 2009 4:41PM I'm not at all surprised that the numbers are down. Until we start regulating gas prices - and stop allowing the refineries to falsely inflate prices by cutting production - no one is going to feel any confidence about spending money on anything other than bare necessities. $4 gas was not that long ago, so as the pump prices rise even while the price of oil is declining, American wallets are going to stay closed.
People are learning that they do not really "need" that new car, or the big screen tv, or a new purse to match every outfit, etc. What they do need is food (prices set to rise), shelter, utilities (prices rising), and gas in the car they already own to get to work (prices rising there too). Couple that with continued layoffs and too many people running out of unemployment benefits, and spending will continue to be stagnant, or drop like a stone.
Retailers better not expect any help over the holidays either. No one is buying gifts except where necessary (ie: for their own kids mostly), and they will be buying more from Walmart and discount stores than from Macy's or Sears.
It always amazes me that no one seems to connect the $4 gas prices with the collapse of the housing & stock markets. Sure there were a ton of bad loans and questionable financial instruments that created a "house of cards" - but it was the steady increase in gas prices that caused the wind that blew the house down.

Maureen,
Do you honestly believe it's anything but a blow-out? I watch Jeopardy with 3 dems. every evening, And, I'm not bragging, but damn these people are scary stupid.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that three of your relatives are a fair sampling of the hundred million or so Democrats across the nation.
Has it occurred to you that maybe it's just YOUR family that is so "scary stupid"?
