Mar 6th 2010 7:01PM Avoid all the human detritus who flock to airports with their irritating habits and learn to fly, as I did over 20 years ago. I can make any trip out to about 600 miles and be on the ground before anything but a direct flight aboard an airliner. I can enjoy the much more congenial atmosphere in the general aviation terminal and lounge.....I can listen to music, which I rarely do, eat snacks I've brought along with me and generally enjoy the solitude that is available in a private aircraft should I choose to fly alone. In addition I can fly into smaller airports that aren't crowded and aren't served by a commercial airline. Trust me, it's worth the expense and training and I recommend it to others who might be similarly inclined. Incidentally it's NOT terribly difficult to learn.

Mar 1st 2010 8:16PM There are no more actors like Jimmy Stewart in Hollyweird....He's before my time but I've read a great deal about this man. A family man who flew 25 combat missions over Germany in B-24s and B-17s. He was a colonel at the end of the war and promoted to Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve after the war. Most of those in Hollywood today are useless dilettantes whose lives are constantly in turmoil.
